The Ibis Ripley 29 is a super lightweight, nimble, and fun trail bike. The Ripley has all of the benefits of a 29er with the snappy feel and light weight of a 26" bike. The Ripley 29 features 120mm of rear wheel travel that utilizes a dual eccentric DW-Link suspension design. The Ripley 29 has two small eccentrics, hidden inside the seat tube, which act as the suspension linkages. DW- Link is a four-bar suspension system that uses anti-squat to eliminate suspension bob, which results in a highly efficient bicycle. Pedal feedback is also minimized due to the suspension design. DW- Link has superior small bump compliance, predictable travel through the range without wallowing or bottoming out and boasts fewer parts than many other suspension designs. Albert Einstein said it best "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."
Not simply a work of technical ingenuity, the Ibis Ripley 29 is quite the looker. Ibis put a great deal of research and development into the frame design. Not only is the Ripley aesthetically pleasing, it's highly functional. The tapered head tube creates a stiff front end for superior handling. Meanwhile, the 142mm rear axle stiffens the back end, for excellent follow through. The BB92/Press GXP style integrated bottom bracket produces excellent power transfer. Internal cable routing keeps contaminants off the cables, and lets the Ripley 29 show off its sleek figure.
When Ibis set out to create the Ripley 29, they took a look at many other 29ers on the market and found that geometry designs varied across the board. Ibis wanted to create a nimble 29er with a similar feel to their current bicycle lineup. During the development process, Ibis experimented with frames with different head tube angles and forks with different rakes. After product testing, all of the testers unanimously landed on one geometry design. Due to the eccentrics, Ibis was able to tighten up the rear end, making it shorter than many comparable bikes. Those that have ridden the Ibis Ripley 29 describe it as stiff, snappy, nimble, light and plush.
The Ibis Ripley 29 Special Blend build features a rock-solid assortment of components that will get you on the trail at a lower price-point. A suspension pair from X-Fusion provides plush suspension performance. A X-Fusion Trance RL delivers 120mm of smooth travel up front while a X-Fusion Microlite RL soaks up bumps and hits toward the rear of the bike. A full-blown Shimano SLX/Deore 3x10 drivetrain keeps the Ripley pedaling and shifting smoothly and efficiently. Deore shifters control an SLX RD-M675 Shadow+ SGS rear derailleur and a SLX M671A top pull direct mount front derailleur while a rugged SLX M670 3x10 crankset delivers trailblazing power to your drivetrain. A pair of Stan's ZTR Rapid 29er Rims are laced to Speed Tuned hubs for a tubeless ready wheelset that is lightweight and versatile. A Specialized Ground Control 2.1 tire up front and a Fast Trak 2BR in the back promote excellent grip in the corners and low-rolling resistance. For those times you've gained a little too much speed, Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes provide all the stopping power and modulation control necessary to navigate quick corners and rocky descents. The Ripley Special Blend is topped off with an Ibis branded alloy cockpit meant to save on costs but still be good enough to carry the Ibis name.
"This is the perfect bike for the trail rider who races occasionally, has an interest in endurance riding, and likes to get rowdy on hard terrain."
