Jenson USA Exclusive: Ibis Mojo 3 XTR Spec-A Bike
Go anywhere, Do anything.
Ibis has recently welcomed a new member into it's Mojo family. This bad boy has grabbed all the choice genetics from its older sibling, the HD3 while, at the same time, evolved into something more well-rounded, versatile and suited for a wider range of riding styles. We invite you to spark up that cigar and welcome into the cycling world, the Ibis Mojo 3.
The evolution and magic in the Ibis Mojo 3 is that it can accommodate 27.5 inch or 27.5 plus tires. The boost frame, boost fork and wide rimmed wheelset are suited for which ever tire platform you feel is best suited to your individual riding style and terrain conditions. It will climb more gracefully than the HD3 and still keep up on the descents. Have that enduro race coming up next weekend and want to be light and fast? Run 2.3 inch rubber. Planned an all-day multi-condition outing with the crew and need more volume, traction and an injection of fun? Throw on the 2.8 inch treads.
In either set-up you can count on legendary Ibis handling characteristics as they carried over their long, low, slack geometry and DW link. But, now we can add to that list wider boost axle's front and rear. These allowed the chainstays to remain nice and short while making clearance for the wider tires. All at a negligible weight difference. The Ibis Mojo 3 fits in nicely as a versatile trail dirt guzzler to the already legendary all-star cast that is Ibis bikes.
Bike - "I've ridden several bikes with plus-size tires, and the Mojo 3 is without a doubt the most €˜normal' feeling." - Ryan Palmer
The Journal - "Whatever your current skill level is, a plus bike will raise your game by a letter grade." - Patrick Traylor
First off very pleased with Jensen and the bike build and shipping, they werent kidding about ease of assembly...I looked at some other high end Carbon Full suspension bikes like Yeti, Pivot, etc. but came back to IBis because of value and components you get. Not to add that with a Jensen build it coincidentally had the things I like on a bike...XTR rear deraillure, XT brakes, Fox shock and Rockshock Pike up front...not a fan of mixing those suspension types..but it does work well...Also this build had a slightly smaller rim width (30mm) for a plus bike...which is what I like, since I run 2.5" or max. 2.6" tires anyway. I got about 5 rides on the bike...wow...first time for me on a carbon frame and full suspension,, it took me awhile and researched a couple of websites to find recommended pressures..but wow...bike does really well in fast rolling terrain,, eats up rocky down hills and gives you awe inspiring confidence... I sense that its not as fast as some light carbon 29ers...but I am more of an all day trail plunker, so speed really isnt an issue.. I do like the comfort, suspension, traction and ergos....I am not a fan of dropper seats, so will keep this for awhile then maybe change out to a rigid aluminum or carbon post..that would probably put the weight in the 26- 27 ib. range which is excellent for a cross country desert sled... if I had one complaint (which I dont)...when I got the itch for an Ibis,, I wanted a red one..but by the time i actually ordered one Jensen was out....but the matte black has grown on me. For the value price....this is a great bike that does a little of everything from cross country, technical and all mountain...
