Ibis Mojo SL Special Blend Build Bike

Ibis had a pretty simple goal when they designed the Special Blend Mojo SL - deliver the absolute very best bang for the buck possible. This price is not a typo or mistake.

The Mojo Carbon first debuted in 2005 and started a revolution. When it was introduced it was the first carbon fiber monocoque All Mountain bike. Although the current version uses the same name as its predecessor, Ibis has refined the Mojo a bit, taken some weight out, added Titanium and more carbon. Its a super lightweight, efficient pedaling, strong and versatile trail bike. Its strength and longevity proved the skeptics wrong. Its long travel and light weight blurred the line between an All Mountain bike and a Cross Country bike. Its dw-link suspension made terrain disappear.

Ibis Mojo SL Special Blend Build Bike Features

  • 5.2 - 5.3 pound (2400g) frame/swingarm/rear shock (medium size, matte clear. Paint adds ~70g, .15 lb)
  • Carbon fiber construction
  • Lopes link for enhanced stiffness
  • DW-Link suspension
  • Titanium fasteners and shock pin
  • Carbon monocoque frame and swing arm
  • 5.5" rear wheel travel w/ a X-Fusion O2 RCX shock
  • X-Fusion Velvet RL fork, 15mm thru axle

Went for the first ride this week end this bike does not disapoint. The X-Fusion air fork&shock
worked flawlessly very plush on descents and I didnt have to lock them out on climbs. The only thing I would upgrade would be the SLX drivetrain excluding the cranck set, it just didnt feel as crisp as the XT I have on my other bike other than that this is a good bike not cheap but cheap for an all carbon bike.

I didn't buy this bike though Jensen, however have owned one since last may. In the end the bike is a big dud ( I will admit that the bike rides nice when it functions) and have consistently been in the shop getting everything serviced or replaced. Ibis branded hubs are not durable ( I have replaced an axle and free hub) rear pivots and a number of other components. Aside from parts (which do fail) Ibis has been inconsistent and unproductive to deal with. For the same price go santa cruz or spend less on a giant or trek, you will be much happier with the bike and dealing with the company.

Comments about Ibis Bicycles Ibis Mojo SL SB Build Bike Discontinued:

Best bike for the money I could find. I've ridden it now for a few months and this bike...
pedals more efficiently than any other bike I've tried, climbs like a goat, is plush like a Cadillac and super strong to hold up to my clidesdale body. Buy this bike, you can't go wrong. And yes, if you ride a Large bike in most other models (Ex: Giant)the XL is a perfect fit and I like smaller bikes typically.

Not sure how they are able to offer this bike at this price. It's a great entry into a higher-end bike with components that can be upgraded over time.

Comments about Ibis Bicycles Ibis Mojo SL SB Build Bike Discontinued:

With this component group it's not as light as it could be, but for the money it's wonderful.

My previous dedicated single-track bike is well known as a great climber and I was worried that going from 29 to 26er + full squish would hurt my climbing, but was amazed at how well it climbs and handles; Ibis did an amazing job getting this right.

Probably wont change any components until I wear out the ones that came with the original special-blend group.

    I absolutely love this bike!

I fell in love with this bike after my first big downhill! Soaks up everything you can throw at it. Great climber, my last bike was a hardtail Raliegh and I was never able to climb as well as I have with this bike. The front and rear suspension are both very adjustable and very smooth. Super light yet, durable.

The shock and fork works so good.
Some rear cables can touch your legs when you are up the hill.

Comments about Ibis Bicycles Ibis Mojo SL SB Build Bike Discontinued:

I absolutely love this bike. The price is right and the performance is great. My medium build with pedals weighed in at a bit over 27lbs. The X-Fusion suspension components feel amazing and I would recommend them to anyone. The bike climbs amazingly and I never feel the need to lockout the suspension. DW link really does a great job. The only gripe I have would be chainslap, but that can be easily fixed with a chain guide, or an updated rear derailleur. I have ridden just about every type of trail with this bike and it just keeps coming back for more.

Comments about Ibis Bicycles Ibis Mojo SL SB Build Bike Discontinued:

I love this bike, I don't feel the roots and rocks like I did before, and my tire always has traction. It's lightweight to carry and helps for climbing. The X fusion suspension feels really solid and works great, not hearing about them prior I was a little skeptical, but I really like them. It's great bike and I would recommend it especially for the price

Comments about Ibis Bicycles Ibis Mojo SL SB Build Bike Discontinued:

Wife had the Fox float 140 shock prior to the new bike. The X-fusion fork works much better for her light weight. Quite happy with the rear shock as well. Bike rocks, can't go wrong with this bike. I would prefer a set of wheels that were designed for tubeless. Get one now, they are very nice deal.
