Please put your hands together and warmly welcome the 27.5” wheel into the Downhill world! After toying around with the 27.5” platform in the Trail bike sector, only to be enlightened by the versatility of these prized 27.5” machines, Intense Cycles now shines the light on one of the very first 27.5” Downhill bike, with the 951 EVO. Although Downhill riding never quite adopted the 29” wheel size, the speed capabilities that come with 29” wheels has had Downhill racers licking their chops. For this reason the 27.5” platform now makes its way to the world of gravity riding. Nimble like a 26”, yet fast like a 29”, the 27.5” brings forth the best of both worlds.
Made with love in the USA, Intense Cycles designed the 951 EVO from the ground up to suit the capacities of 27.5” wheels. By utilizing 8.5” of travel, brought to you by Fox 40 Float 27.5 Fit, and an aggressive geometry, Intense Cycles made sure the 951 EVO is light enough in the corners and manageable in tight sections. The head tube angle has been slackened to 62.5 degrees to accommodate the 27.5 specific fork offset, which inspires confidence through daunting steeps and brutal rock gardens at high speeds. The chain stays were kept short at only 17.5 inches to provide stability at higher speeds, while remaining dexterous in the corners. Top tube lengths have been extended to ensure you have no shortage of room in the cockpit. The bias has been adjusted slightly more to the front; making the front wheels ground better for some added assistance in the curves. Because the 27.5” wheel size brings the bottom bracket height below the axle center, the bottom bracket is right at 13 3/4” to give the bike a nice, stable feeling, transitioning through to the overall control of the 951 EVO.
Intense knows there is no such thing as compromise when it comes to suiting up a first-of-its-kind frame, such as the 951 EVO, making it an easy decision to dress this monster in the gravity-specific Shimano Zee component group. Shimano Zee components were designed specifically for the types of riders who take just as much pride and pleasure shoveling jumps, as they do ripping them on two wheels. The Zee outfit includes the rear derailleur, crankset, shifters, brakes and brake levers, providing you with the reliability and performance needed to push your limits, while maintaining a welcoming price point. The LGI+ chainguide by e*thirteen, keeps chains secure while the direct mount bash guard absorbs and efelects impacts away from the chain riing. The Cane Creek Double Barrel coil rear shock is highly adjustable and feasts on boulders, roots and ramps. The 951 EVO rolls on gaping 31mm wide Novatec Demon 27.5” rims, with Novatec DH sealed bearing hubs at the centers. This work of art by Novatec provides unmatched stability, confidence and surgically-precise handling.
This beautiful build from Intense Cycles comes to you in a stunning Orange finish and no shortage of augmentations that’ll be certain to turn heads at the park. Throw your leg over the 951 EVO and be one of the first ever to experience the speed and fluidity of the 27.5 Downhill bike!
