We’ve all heard the saying, “Learn from your mistakes!” But what about learning from your successes? Looking at the history of Intense’s M series, you’d be quick to notice it’s decorated past and proven progression of elite level downhill race machines. Ultimately, you’d be able to see that the M16 is the latest result of Intense learning from its M series successes of yesteryear.
In 2015 Intense mastered the M16 as a hydroformed alloy frame, leaving them with a clear next step; replicate the M16 using the more exotic carbon fiber material. Aside from carbon fiber’s obvious weight savings (nearly a 3 pound reduction from the alloy model) and stiffness capacities, working with carbon fiber permitted Intense further flexibility in not only its structural design, but also in its aesthetics, such as full internal cable routing and sleeker, more refined lines. Some of the less noticeable additions include built-in fork bumpers, molded rubber frame protectors, and a sweet little plastic fender to protect the rear shock from mud and trail-grime.
Designed with an insistent geometry, plenty of travel, and the perfect 27.5” wheel size, the M16C’s talent lay in today’s World Cup race scene. Sculpted to trim milliseconds, the M16 features VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) suspension to rid the rig of unnecessary compression without compromising bump absorption. The finished product gushes plush travel for more control, which therein equates to more speed.
Without any shortage of adjustability, the M16C allows you dial in the bike depending on what the run is looking like for the day. With 8.5 to 9.5 inches (215mm - 240mm) of travel via Can Creek Double Barrel Coil rear shock, and its gravity-tuned geometry, technical descents will become your playground in a hurry.
