I bought a set of these thinking the result would be similar to the Gore fully protected shift cables... Not exactly.
The nose on these ferrules is not terribly long and had a tough time fitting through the cable stops on my road bike. The actual "housing" is quite delicate, it has a tendency to "crinkle" and proved difficult to install neatly over the ferrule.
The housing looked poor, even when installed correctly.
I think it did extend the cable life over bare cables, but it is difficult to tell. There are still places for water intrusion -- the cable stop in the derailleurs, for instance.
