The Dakar XCR Pro is the gold standard in cross country race design. The main frame, stays, and bell crank are comprised of high modulus carbon. The 2011 version of the DCR features a weight reduction, more supple suspension travel, better hook- up and trail- tacking handle precision. The XCR utilizes multi- link suspension design (MP3) which was designed to shed weight and maintain a low center of gravity for tight cornering. Asymmetrical chainstays provide better lateral stiffness, excellent chain clearance and the always active terrain following suspension action that Jamis is known for. To add torsional stiffness and a more rigid front end, the XCR has a tapered head tube.

The Dakar XCR Pro comes full loaded with 100mm of fully active travel controlled by a FOX RP2 BV rear shock. The Fox 32FRL fork offers legendary Fox precision manufacturing and industry leading stiffness to weight ratio. The tapered steerer tube enhances steering precision. The 32FRL also features adjustable air spring, external rebound adjust and lever actuated lock-out. Seamless and quietly shift through all 30 gears with Shimano Deore XT derailleurs. The direct cable routing reduces the risk of housing snag. Shimano Deore XT M775 hydraulic disc brakes reduce speeds quickly and reliably.

      Psyched with this purchase, especially at the current Jenson price. You get a LOT of bike for the money - carbon full suspension frame, Fox shox and forks, great components including a plethora of Shimano XT stuff. Bike is as light as the aluminum hardtail it replaced. It's point and go, and the responsiveness of the suspension and the quick lock out come in handy when I pop off a trail and onto a dirt road. Oh, and the brakes are AWESOME - solid feel and feedback wet or dry. Lightweight wheels and grippy Geax tires...I have two relatively minor quibbles - there could be a smidge more ground clearance for the cranks (although I do use pretty big pedals) and some of the cable routing could probably be tucked away a bit. Otherwise it is quite a value. You could not replace the components for the price of the whole bike, much less the high-quality carbon fiber frame.

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
