JAMIS DRAGON 29 RACE BIKE 2014
Dragons have long been portrayed as fire breathing mythical creatures in countless fairytales. Now is your chance to harness one. The Jamis Dragon 29 Race is crafted from Reynolds 853 air hardened steel, which provides an incredibly lively ride. The Jamis Dragon is the mountain bike that built Jamis' high-end reputation in their early years, and the legend is still going strong. If you're committed to big-wheeled steel hardtails, the Dragon 29 Race is a prodigious option.
The Jamis Dragon 29 Race is beautifully crafted from Reynolds 853 steel, which provides an incredibly resilient and sturdy ride. With the addition of oversized 44mm head tubes, the Dragon has adopted a tapered steerer fork to add more stiffness, reduce weight and improve tracking through bumpy terrain. Additionally, the Dragon now features a chainstay/seatstay disc brace that supports the thin-walled, non-driveside stays from the loads generated by the disc brakes. This brace is light, strong, clean looking, and provides vibration-free braking.
For the drivetrain, the Dragon 29 Race employs a SRAM component arrangement including X9 2x10 speed derailleurs and shifter set, which clearly communicate with each other for smooth, snappy gear changes. The 2x10 gear set-up provides a plethora of options for tackling undulating terrain. The Avid Elixer 5 hydraulic disc brakes are paired with large 180mm (f) and 160mm(r) rotors to bring you to a quick stop, once you've decided to pack it in for the day.
Handling the front end, a Rock Shox Reba RL fork with 32mm stanchions and a tapered aluminum steerer tube keeps things plush and tracking smoothly when things get rowdy. It's external rebound and leer actuated lockout, allows you to adapt to many conditions. The 120mm of travel bridges the gap between XC and Trail for more versatility and comfort.
The Ritchey Pro cockpit produces a rigid platform for exceptional control and response, while the American Classic Terrain wheels are ready for some tubeless action and come wrapped in Geax Saguaro 2.2 tires. The Dragon's proven geometry can gut out gritty climbs, yet it won't shy away from sketchy descents. Pair the Dragon's bomb-proof frame with its clever build-group, fast 29" wheels and 100mm of travel up front, and you've got yourself the smile-making-machine you've always wanted.
