Super simple and effective way to convert. Like the option of two gear ratios. Used on a 9 speed hub.

I wanted a single speed setup without all the fuss and this fits the bill. I wasn't sure about the gearing but went with the 18T and it's just right for my 29" wheels. I'd rate it 5 stars except for the lockring is steel and not all that pretty. The alum bits are bling enough and the chrome steel rings are as good as any. Good value all around.

I have an old specialized stumpjumper sport, early 80's with no modifications. Is this what I would use to convert to a single speed commuter?
Bacon on Nov 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Probably not. Your bike most likely uses a freewheel (google search it vs. a cassette freehub, which is what these are used for). You'll also need a tensioner unless your bike uses horizontal dropouts to put the wheel in stead of the vertical ones you most likely have.
Are the cogs for 1/8 chains?
A shopper on Feb 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I'm currently running this kit with a KMC 1/8" chain.
can this be used on a campy hub?
