K-Edge MTB Dirt 3 Chain Catcher

Use the Dirt 3 with Shimano outboard-bearing crank/BB combo (very common) on triple chainring setups. The Dirt 3 enhances shifting performance and prevents dropped chains on Shimano triple MTB drivetrains.

Mounts seamlessly to your bike by replacing one of the 2.5mm spacers found between the bottom bracket cup and the frame.

Comments about K-Edge MTB Dirt 3 Chain Catcher:

Does the job of keeping the chain from derailing to the inside all in a nice, compact design. Aesthetically more pleasing than seat tube mounted designs.

Comments about K-Edge MTB Dirt 3 Chain Catcher:

Great concept. Looks like it should be very effective. I purchased this after dropping the chain a few times and seeing the chain scratch up the carbon BB area.

With a Chris King bottom bracket, slots in the BB are not fully engaged when installing, requiring mroe care when installing.

Using a Shimano triple drivetrain set up as 2 x 10 with the front derailleur mounted lower than it would on a triple, the guard can interfere with the derailleur if not located properly.

Comments about K-Edge MTB Dirt 3 Chain Catcher:

Prior to installing the K-Edge, I would probably drop my chain once or twice on my weekly MTB rides. Granted, I do like jumping gaps and riding down stairs everyone once in a while. After installing the K-Edge, I have not dropped a chain. Dropping a chain would be nearly impossible unless you lifted the bike upside down and pulled the chain over the K-Edge. Now I have no worries about shifting down and dropping my chain onto the BB. Trust me, you don't want to drop the chain and scratch up your frame. I paid the price and had to get my frame re-faced due to my chain marring the edges up. You need smooth edges for the external bearing BBs. The dropped chain would have been disastrous if I was riding a full carbon MTB. Highly recommend the product for anyone who is using an external bracket bottom bracket (i.e. Shimano XT Hollowtech II) with the 2.5mm spacers and would like to stop worrying about dropping the chain on the down shift.
