Comments about Kalloy Mountain Adjustable Rise Stem:
I used this on my mountain bike and wrecked it the first time out. I may have had the stem adjusted too far in the vertical direction, but after doing a few bunnyhops on the trail, the adjusting mechanism became stripped out and the handlebars suddenly dropped downward. I don't completely blame the stem, as it seemed relatively rigid and safe for an adjustable stem. However, I would not recommend it for any degree of mountain biking and I wish that had been made clear on the advertisement.

Comments about Kalloy Mountain Adjustable Rise Stem:
I'm 6'2" tall and have long legs, and it's difficult to find a bike with a frame of sufficient size for me. If I raise the saddle to compensate, I find that I experience significant hand fatigue and numbness during extended rides. A more upright riding position offers the best relief for this condition.
I bought this to raise the handlebars on my mountain bike, and it does do that. Unfortunately, the height difference is still insufficient for my needs. If you need only a little additional height, I'd highly recommend this product. It is not lightweight, but its design is such that once properly adjusted, there won't be any movement in the pivot no matter how much force is put on the bars. I'll combine this with the ZOOM Headsup steerer extender, which should give me the height I need.

Comments about Kalloy Mountain Adjustable Rise Stem:
This stem provides exactly what I wanted: angle adjustment and a relatively short length. This allowed me to shorten the distance between my seat and handlebar, as well as have a more upright riding posture. My back/shoulder is much better off as a result. I've been commuting with it for four weeks now, and it is strong and quiet. I am using it on my mountain bike, but it also comes with an adapter sleeve to fit a road bike. The angle adjustment portion has notches, so that when tightened the stem will not move.
