Kenda Nevegal DTC 29" Tire

The Tomac Nevegal features a tread pattern that was voted #1 tread pattern 2 years in a row by Mountain Bike Action Magazine. Ramped center knobs provide traction and speed while tall side knobs are designed to penetrate and hold on loose terrain.
  • DTC (Dual Tread Compound) - L3R Pro compound (60a durometer) in middle and Stick-E rubber compound (50a durometer) on sides/cornering knobs
  • L3R (Low Rolling Resistance Rubber) Pro compound has longer tread life, less rolling resistance and improved grip
  • Stick-E is a slow rebound, high-grip compound for downhill, freeride or trail
  • Tall knobs designed to penetrate and hold on loose terrain
  • Kenda does not endorse the use of any fluid-based sealant products in any Kenda tube-type or tubeless-type tires. Use of any fluid-based products will void any warranty claims
  • Folding bead
  • 40-65 psi
  • 810 grams
  • 60TPI

Great Front Tire
I purchased this tire to replace a Slant Six 2.0 that I had up FRONT on my hardtail 29er. The Slant Six is a great REAR tire, I've already bought another Slant Six for the back of my bike, I used that tire at least 3 times as a rear!

The Nevegal gives me the additional grip for cornering and braking that I was lacking. The 'side bite' is great and I have a lot more confidence going into fast corners in our rocky, dry AZ terrain. I can brake much later when approaching turns, and I can apply way more front brake on technical declines without locking the tire up.

My folding bead 2.2 Nevegal weighed in at 830 on my scale. I have noticed the extra weight when I try to hop the front wheel up ledges, but I think it is a good trade off.

It mounted up easily (with a tube for now) and I don't anticipate any issues running it tubeless.
I have a little less than 30psi in the tire but haven't have any pinch flats. The tire itself is pretty burly. It rolls faster than I would expect based on the tread pattern, however I can not comment on its performance in wet / muddy conditions.

PROS: Durable

CONS: Heavy

Monster tires!
I don't care much for all of the skinny small knobby 29er tires. Too many snake bite flats, and not enough flat protection from sharp rocks and other trail hazards. These Kendas have great tread patterns, are roll well in mud, the hard pack. Wieght-weenies have complained about the wieght, but I don't notice, or care. These tires rock!

Nevegal Fan!
I like to be aggressive in the mountains, I like to be sure cornering and go down pretty fast, these tires give the necessary confidence. I do not mind losing a bit of speed up the hill, I need to be sure and be aggressive and fast down the hill, which is the most fun. I recommend this tire for people that want to come down and give curves aggressively without fear and feel you are on a motorcycle.

Great all terrain tires
These are great tires if you ride in loose terrain or in a lot of rocks. They have a bit of rolling resistance and are a little on the heavy side, but I have never had a flat with these either.

PROS: Excellent Grip, Durable

CONS: Rolling resistance, Weight

Good All Conditions Tire
Great trail bike tire. Run them front and rear for muddy conditions. Great tire for what they are intended...not a cross country race tire.

PROS: Width, Traction, Cornering, durability

Great Tire
Great tire. The grip of this tire gives you confidence in every turn you take. If you're not a competitive racer like myself and not worried about weight, this is the tire to get.

Are these folding?
Stumpy on Mar 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes.. they are folding tires but not tubeless. My bike shop looked up the model # and learned these are not tubeless tires.. so I had to put a tube in mine.
Can we mount this tire tubeless?
Boldov on Aug 30, 2016

Are these tubeless compatible? Has anyone run them on a tubeless set-up?
Duane on Apr 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I tried it, but without success. Went about 2 or 3 weeks pumping it up every day. Gave up and put the tube back in. Will get the tubeless version next time!
