Kenda's Nevegal tires has a bunch of awards for a reason. Plus being designed by DH/XC legend John Tomac, it add to a durable and dependable product. The tire combines a relatively fast-rolling, ramp-fronted, mid-height tread that gives you a great intermediate tire that glues itself to rocks and roots with equal tenacity, and paddles its way through mud and sand. I love the rounded profile that makes it roll into corners quickly and smoothly.

I've been using these tires tubeless on non-tubeless rims, and it's been working great! The sidewalls are tough and hasn't leaked or burped any air. It's the perfect tire to run on lower psi for better traction & cornering.

The Nevegal gets praise from everywhere. It offers great performance in a wide variety of conditions and rolls fairly well for what it is. So I will try to focus on what keeps it from being a better tire.

The treadlife is fair for a tire of this level - it's designed to be soft for grip, not hard for road use. Road use will chew them up in no time although a friend has had them for over 1500 miles with a lot of road mixed in.

The grip is decent on a wide variety of surfaces, but doesn't stand out in the wet in my experience. The rolling resistance is similarly good, without being great.

The achilles heel of these tires seems to be the puncture resistance. I got a ride-ending puncture flat from a small, dull twig on a gravel road of all things. Add to that many thorns that did not ever puncture my Panaracer and you have a tire that does not respond well to sharp objects.

Another issue I have had is quality control. One of my tires delaminated and caused air to leak between the tread and casing, causing a "bubble" that ended a ride. Luckily, Kenda warrantied the tire site unseen with just some pictures of the damage. Another tire similarly delaminated but this tire had been previously punctured so I did not bother trying to get it warrantied. A third tire has had issues seating correctly no matter what I do and loses its air after sitting for 2 days. I should add that I do not run sealant so I depend on the bead seating properly. I have not had an issue in the past with Panaracer or Michelin UST tires but the Nevegals seem hit or miss.

Overall, one of the best tires on the market. Just don't convince yourself they are better in every way than every other tire - they're a great blend of qualities though.

Comments about Kenda Nevegal DTC UST 26" Tire:

Great tire overall, it was easy to install I didn't even need my tire tools to help it over the rim. It made an excellent seal with Stan's valve stems and before I even added Stan's I pumped it up and was holding 60psi just fine. Seems durable I haven't ripped any chunks off of it or anything. I got the fat 2.35 version and it has excellent traction I have only slipped once and that was in mud. The only cons I have for it are it's mud traction it doesn't disperse mud away very well and how much it weighs.

Comments about Kenda Nevegal DTC UST 26" Tire:

I bought these when I had finally decided to go tubeless. The Dual Tread Compound is great for its low rolling resistance but the ability to stick in the corners. You won't be disappointed with the tires. The look good on your bike, the perform excellent, and they come with a great price. I would buy these tires all day.

Comments about Kenda Nevegal DTC UST 26" Tire:

This is a tubeless tire that is not sealant compatible. It is for ust wheels only. I have ust wheels, but here is my question to Kenda.... What is the point of a tubeless tire that is not sealant compatible? Use of sealant will melt this tire and voids the warranty. So if no sealant then what happens when you get a small puncture from say, a thorn? You go flat. And how do you fix it? With a tube. Kinda defeats the point of tubeless. I thought Kenda employed engineers but I guess they focus more on marketing!

I run this tire tubeless on UST rims with no sealant and they are fantastic. I run a 2.1 on the rear and a 2.35 on the front of my AM rig. Good grip, and durable enough for some light DH while light enough for marathon xc rides.

I replaced a Maxxis Crossmark on the front with the Kenda Nevegal. The Kenda has pretty large knobs on the outer sides which seem to grip really well in corners providing a little more confidence.

Comments about Kenda Nevegal DTC UST 26" Tire:

These tires are heavy, but for the price and the grip it is worth it. These tires are substantially thicker than their non UST counterparts. I run these at 25psi (I am 150 lbs kitted up) and have had no burping issues. They lose 2 or 3psi a week or 50 miles of riding. Although some weeks I do not measure any pressure loss. I run these with caffe latex and have no issues with blistering etc.... The grip from these tires is amazing. I run them on hardpack, loose rock, gravel, sand, roots and rock obstacles. I have noticed a substantial increase in cornering grip by running at 25psi. Due to their thickness, the sidewalls seem able to take a beating. I was able to seat these with a floor pump by pulling the bead from the center of the rim and seating it half to two thirds of the way around on both sides.

Comments about Kenda Nevegal DTC UST 26" Tire:

Over the last two years, in a search for something better, I've strayed away from running Nevegals on my 26" wheeled Stumpjumper. For the 26" wheel, I've used Panaracers, WTB tires, Trail Kings, and Secialized the Captains. I'm so happy to be riding Nevegals again. The UST version mounted on compatible rims with a floor pump. On the trail, the supple ride quality combined with reliable transition in to-and out of corners is the best in my opinion. Nevegals are a bit heavy, and they have a slightly higher rolling resistance, but my legs will to get used to it. Overall, an excellent design for a wide variety of trail conditions. Cheers!
