I had been searching high and low for a good replacement for my worn out old Hutchinson Bulldogs. My setup: some of the older Ksyrium Elites with no holes in the rim bed, converted to tubeless. The Slant Six tires mounted up much more cleanly and tightly than the Hutchinsons, but I detect slightly more rolling resistance, probably because the tread is fresh. I also feel like these are slightly heavier than the Bulldogs, but again, they were severely worn, and I didn't weigh the tires to compare.
These tires grip like crazy on pretty much everything but deep sand and mud, which most tires have issues with anyway. On mixed courses with sand and mud, these will probably trap mud, then get coated with sand, which takes a little while to shed. In that meantime, cornering is a little sketchy. However, if you are racing mainly on grass and hardpack a la SoCalCross, this tire will demolish the competition. I ran two of these front and rear, but for even faster rolling, I suggest running a Small block 8 in the rear and a Slant Six in the front. However, you will lose a little of the hard cornering that the Slant Six is comfortable with. These are great tires.
