For years, Kenda’s most popular tires have been the Small Block 8 and Nevegal. Finally, they have created a tire that embodies the spirit of both the Nevegal and the Small Block. With surprisingly tenacious grip given its small, 6-across Nevegal-shaped knobs, the Slant Six is excellent for intermediate to hard- packed terrain. You’ll speed through the course, without worrying about slipping. Kenda has modified the Slant Six using their SCT (Sealant Compatible Tire technology) to make it compatible with fluid based tubeless conversion systems.
Bead: Folding, Tubeless Ready with use of sealant
Application: Front or Rear Tires
SCT- Compatible with fluid based tubeless conversion systems
DTC- Ultimate tread compound. Kenda’s L3R PRO compound in the center and the cornering knobs have Stick-E compound
I was torn between putting new tires on my vintage 1990 Cannondale SM600 and getting a new full suspension carbon bike. Since I mostly ride fire roads and possibly some single track downhill with my 10 year old son in tow, the old bike works just fine. I've been through my share of tires on this bike and have gone back and forth between a street set-up and a dirt set-up. I decided to go for a fast rolling dirt tire with max. diameter this time around. This 2.1 tire is perfect for my purposes. Fast tire for hard pack surface and fat enough to add a tiny bit of comfort to an otherwise very stiff ride.
I bought one to replace my front Nevegal. I ride XC in Tennessee where the conditions are mostly hard pack with roots and rock. Tire tracks well and I will consider replacing back Nevegal w/ same tire when time.
I have used these tires for 6 months now. Switched from nevegals so had some adjustments to make. Now that I have been on then for a while I have really come to enjoy them and got comfortable with the traction and cornering grip.
I bought this tire (SCT) version to run tubeless with Stans sealant on bontrager tubeless ready rims. Rode on front range in Colorado. Granted this is a rocky area, but sliced the sidewall twice in three rides. Have been running with a tube since, where the tire has admirable traction and cornering on hardpack. But given the SCT designation tubes wee not the intended method.
