Based upon the highly successful Nevegal tire, the Small Block 8 features 8 miniature Nevegal shaped knobs running from left to right across the tire. Its well suited for fast accelerating, hard packed cross country riding.
This version of the Small Block 8 uses Kenda’s signature DTC compound. DTC is the ultimate tread compound. Kenda’s L3R compound (60 shore A durometer) is in the center and the cornering knobs have Kenda’s signature STICK-E compound (50 shore A durometer). The benefits are great center tread life, and excellent cornering. You get the best of both worlds with DTC!
The Small Block 8 now embodies SCT technology, which means it is compatible with fluid based tubeless conversion system!

I use these for XC and trail use, and they get the job done. However, while cornering or going up hill on loose surfaces (gravel, sand, loose dirt, ect.) they tend to break loose. On harder surfaces they do great. I plan on upgrading to a more mountain specific tire but only because that's what I plan on using my bike for. For now, the SB8's do their job great.

I really like this tire. I used it for 600+ cross country miles. In my setup it was used as a rear tire. Great all around traction on the rear. I really don't think it has enough grip to run it up front unless you ride 100% hardpack. I tried running it up front, but got sick of watching out for loose dirt on the trail. When I corner very hard with high lateral and downward G's (banked corner at bottom of drop), the tire tends to roll off to the side of the rim. This is the reason I am currently looking for a new rear tire. I love taking the corners fast, and at the limit, this tire doesn't cut it for me.

These tires are fantastic on hardpack. As soon as you hit loose dirt, rock, or desert sand they are useless.

I use the Nev. sticky up front and SB8 2.1 on the rear for a good rolling good traction combo. Mostly SOCAL rocks and loose over hard pack.
finally, it has a tubeless bead at 600G.
