KS Lev-Dx Seatpost 125mm

KS LEV-DX Seatpost 125mm

As a beloved member of the Kind Shock seatpost family, the LEV-DX is the newest price point model in seatpost innovation. With up to five inches of silky-smooth travel, the aluminum dropper post features a polycarbonate trigger/clamp and cable junction cap for a sleek yet durable finish! As the only hydraulically locked and air sprung post to feature zero cable movement, the LEV-DX housing stop is placed below the center collar and rotates 360 degrees around the post for custom cable routing options. The post locks anywhere in the vertical range and will not extend when you lift the saddle for more permanent adjustments. In the modern world of off-road pedaling, an adjustable seatpost is an invaluable upgrade that ensures you’re in optimal riding-position with the push of a remote, and the LEV-DX is a fine choice for achieving just that.

  • Aluminum dropper with an alloy seat clamp and bolt, polycarbonate trigger/clamp and cable junction cap
  • 125mm drop with the same air/oil system as the original LEV
  • Stationary remote cable routing, locates housing stop below the center collar
  • Housing stop rotates 360 degrees around the post for custom cable routing options
  • Locks anywhere in vertical range, post will not extend when lifting the saddle
  • 2-bolt micro-adjustable seat rail clamp, angled bolts increase clamp strength
  • 540g (30.9x125mm)
  • Travel: 125mm
  • Diameter: 30.9 and 31.6
  • Length: 385mm

Great dropper backed up by Worst Cst Sev
I have had the KS lev 30.9 with 125mm travel for just over one year now. Previously, I owned command post, Gravity dropper and rockshox reverb and kronolog. I will start by saying LEV does have a very smooth feel when it works and probably is the lightest of the hydrolic group. The remote lever was easy to set up and was easy to activate and rock solid. I did however end up sending the unit back to KS for warranty work after two months of use. Now, the post will raise when pulled on the seat. Another major issue is then seat clamp. The spherical bolts and nuts that hold the seat clamp will come loose even when torqued above specs resulting in lost bolts. They have no resolution on this and bolts are backordered with no eta. I gave it a two star because KS has horrible customer service. They have no representatives to even answer phones. Only voicemail and no one will respond. Parts are almost impossible to find and after calling two LBS I came to learn they are the hardest to deal with. Stick with a reputable company like rockshox or gravity dropper.

Smooth operation
Had a dropper system with a moving cable/housing which was wearing away the frame.
KS LEV DX has a fixed, external cable/housing, operates smoothly and provides various options for remote mounting location.

KS Lev-Dx
Installation:
Unless someone has installed one of these posts before, they would have had to do some of their own research to mount it properly. There is a "warning" lable on the post itself that said "Read both sides before installation". There is a "red" cap (mine was black) that needed to be installed after the cable mount was installed (to avoid damage to the ferrule). Since the warning mentioned red cap, it was a bit confusing, since there was none… Looking back now after the first installation, it is quite simple (only if you know what you need to look for).
Riding:
Found that the post didn't come back up unless it was fully dropped (for the first few rides anyway). Sometimes a double (seat) bounce would bring the post back to normal position. Apart from that, really cannot fault the post so far – loving it!

Great Dropper Seatpost!!
I have no prior experience with other brands of dropper posts. But this KS LEV DX is amazing. I did extensive research and spoke to a handful of people who have many experiences with dropper posts, and the consensus is the best 2 are the LEV and the Rockshox Reverb.

I do not regret purchasing this post. It has completely changed how I attack downhills. I believe it is the best upgrade you can make to your riding under $300. The only problem was that the post requires a specific amount of lube for it to work properly. Once my shop figured the right amount, it has worked flawlessly. I love this post!!!

Great seatpost.
We've got 3 of these and an eten in the family. Haven't had a single issue when the cable was measured correctly.

Pay close attention to the orientation of the hook actuator on the cable.

Nice post. PITA cable routing design.
Just mounted my LEV DX. Looks great. The thumb actuator is easy and intuitive to use. Once the actuator is engaged, the post goes down quickly and smoothly with just a little weight. Another quick push and it's back to full height. The return speed is fast enough without fear of it smashing your butt or bits on the way up.

The DX is cool because the moving cable mechanism is hidden within the post, so there's no excess cable slack to rub bike parts. However, the process to change the direction of the cable routing is more involved than I cared for. Ultimately I left the cable routing where it came from the factory (4 o'clock position), as I just didn't want to deal with this process. The process isn't correctly described in the manual. Instead, search youtube for "LEV DX - How to Adjust Your Cable Routing Direction".

PROS: Attractive Design, Easy Operation

CONS: Pita Cable Changes
