The Kona Major Jake Frame is ready to whip the competition. It's a full-on cyclocross race frame with a polished geometry, featuring a lower bottom bracket, slightly taller head tube and slightly shorter top tube, resulting in a bike that tracks solidly and allows a more neutral position for maximal power creation and effortless handling, while preserving the racing tradition of the platform. The head tube angle for all models changes with respect to the bottom bracket drop, allowing the bike to be ridden more aggressively without fear of performing an uncontrolled superman. The slacker head tube coupled with the shorter top tube also preserve the wheelbase and make for a responsive, confident ride. In true Kona fashion, of course, it's optimized for shredding.
Kona kept it simple with this frame, eschewing weighty and time-costly thru-axles in favor of true quick releases. Kona knows that getting muddy isn't always preferable, and thankfully, they left on some removable fender mounts for that kind of day. With an attractively low weight and an even more attractive price, this gorgeous race steed will carry you to the top of the podium with some gas money left over to get your muddy self home.
This Jenson custom build pairs the Major Jake frame with SRAM’s reliable and precise Rival 1, 11-speed group. The Rival shifters throw down snappy shifts across the 11-speed SRAM cassette that boasts a 11-36t gear range that will let you smash the straights and spin the climbs. When it comes time to slow things down, the Rival hydraulic disc brakes will stop on a dime no matter the conditions. The lightweight Easton wheels spin fast and smooth with Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires providing traction to confidently rail the corners. A cockpit by Niner and Easton top off this build that is ready to tame the gnarliest of CX courses or go cruise a casual gravel grind.
Kona Race Light Carbon construction features monocoque frame and tapered monocoque Kona Carbon Race CX fork, both with hidden fender eyelets, and featuring internal cable routing, Di2 options and a PF30 bottom bracket.
Tapered Headtube gives more stiffness at the bottom of the head tube to better distribute shock force, prolonging the bearing life of the headset itself and eliminating brake shudder, while massively improving steering feedback
