I wasn't looking for this tool. I just happened to come across it when I was looking for something else.

The only reason I stopped to consider this tool was because just a few days before I found this tool I suffered a flat while out on a ride. And of course it was a wheel and tire combination that has always been a PITA.

I did some searching on YouTube and found a few videos showing how to use the tool. The price was cheap so what the heck?

Got the tool and it works! However, on the aforementioned rim and tire combination that always gives me fits I had to use the tool in a different way.

In other words you would normally hook the tool on the rim and then use the other side to *lift* the tire onto the rim. In my case I had to use the hook first to lift (hold) the tire and then place the other side into the rim. So in a sense I had to do it backwards - but it worked. :-)

On my other rims and tires I didn't have to do this.

Anyway, I love this tool! I even keep it in my pack which is a God send when we have to fix a flat on a DH run!

Good stuff!!

Works as advertised, but slips off of tire due to the gripping slot being very smooth. This part needs some 'rippling' or the grip angle needs to be slightly enhanced.Read complete review

I need to use two hands to hold it onto a tire.

Bought two, one to hold one end of the bead & the other to lift the bead over the rim. Caution, use away from rim decals as they may get damaged.

An essential tool if you run clinchers on tubless-ready rims

Comments about Kool-Stop Tire Bead Jack With Handle:

I love Velocity rims, and have been running Conti clinchers with tubes on them, but find that the tubeless ready rims are slightly oversized, making seating tube type tires difficult at best, even with heavy duty levers. This tool is just the ticket for doing that one thing. Though of necessity too long to fit a seat bag, it will slip in my jersey pocket on every ride from now on. Great product.
