Good comfort and protection... but..
This is a really good kneepad that provides a maximum level of protection, yet is comfortable enough to pedal in. However, there is one area of discomfort that doesn't take much time to notice.

One of the key areas of importance for kneepads that will provide protection during park riding or DH is lower thigh protection. You may notice that some kneepads have little protection above the kneecap, and some(like these) continue the protection further up. If you get ejected over the bars, the ground will snag on almost any pad and pull them down. This kneepad is effective because of the more slippery hardshell design and protection/padding that goes above the kneecap. The strap placement is excellent, with the lower pad above the bulge of the calf and the upper preventing the pad from sliding down. Materials are excellent and I believe they are microbial so they won't stink up as easily. Hardshell pads have a tendency to not compress, and will shift up and down as you pedal, but IXS has the best movement compensation zone below the kneecap that I have ever seen and noticeably move less than the Leatt Enduro hardshell.

I did find one area of discomfort, but did find a way to fix it. The lower strap is stitched into the mesh at the back and it creates a sharp point that rubbed my upper calf red. However, I liked the design and comfort(elsewhere) of the pad so much that I fixed the problem by putting a patch of moleskin on the stitching that causes the irritation. I have had many kneepads and recently got a hematoma while wearing another pad. I wanted to get a very protective kneepad that was also able to be transparent enough for the 1hr climb I have to take to get to the DH trail. I believe this is the best pad I have used, despite the 1 small issue.

Great knee guards!
Love these things! Built for DH but comfortable enough to pedal in, I use mine regularly for trail riding and don't have complaints.

best kneepads i've owned
These kneepads are great. They offer significant protection on and around my knee, and also just the right amount of shin protection. They are lightweight and easy to carry in my pack--I bring them along for all my rides that include any technical/difficult descending. They stay in place nicely and I am not worried they will slip in a crash. I am also planning to use them for downhilling this year.

These are ok for pedaling short segments, but become uncomfortable and hot after pedaling in them for a long time.

Best Knee Guards So Far!
These are the best knee guards I have worn yet! Very comfortable, light weight, nice and breathable, good fitment and has great hard shell protection over the knee. The main reason why I got these is because all the previous knee guards I've owned never really protected the knee-cap from impacts very well. But these have a nice hard shell that really does the job and are super comfy! The only downside to these I have noticed is that the bake side of the knee has a very thin vented mesh and although this makes for a very comfortable and breathable knee guard, it already is starting to tear or fray in some areas and it does concern me that it might rip easily and have to buy a new pair. But other than that, these are amazing knee guards for sure!

PROS: Good Protection, Lightweight, Very breathable, Nice fit systempads, Versatile

CONS: Not As Durable As Some

Buy These!
I wore the pads on a light trail riding day just to see how they feel as for comfort. I was very pleased with this product. I didn't notice any slipping of the pads when riding. A great product.

Best Knee Pads
Went to a several local stores and I tried every knee pad on the market. Some were good and some were bad but all had something missing. When I tried I IXS Daggers I knew these were the one.

The fit and finish was great. I had the coverage and protection I needed. It had enough shin protection that ai didn't need shin pads. Has hard plastic and duel straps for support.

These are a little pricy but worth every penny. The only con would be to extend the shin protection an inch and these would be all around best leg protectors.

Very happy with my purchase.

My favorite all around knee guards
I have to echo the other reviews regarding the comfort and protection that these knee guards offer. I have tried several soft knee pads in the past but every one of them had the tendency to slide down on impact exposing my knee cap because they tend to grip the ground. I usually ended up with the skinned up knees I was trying to avoid. I had an unplanned crash test recently with these when I mislanded a jump and came down hard on my right side knee, elbow and shoulder. Bruised my elbow and shoulder (no protection) but my knees (the brunt of the impact) were safe and injury free. These pads didn't move an inch. Looking at the pads afterward the hard plastic shell had a couple of gouges that easily would have caused the soft pads to slide. The lower shin and higher thigh design is also a big plus as it definitely protected more of my legs.
I went by the size chart (my knee measured 40.5cm, 2 inches above knee cap) and bought the mediums. They seemed a little snug when I tried them on (to the point that I had the straps as loose as possible) but once I rode with them I never gave them a second thought.
Overall, these pads fit comfortably and I love the protection of the hard shell.
