iXS Flow Knee Guards

The iXS Flow series was developed with the help of trials champion Hans “NoWay” Rey in an effort to offer a lightweight, barebones pad without sacrificing durability or protection. The Flow pads are plenty strong and at about 300g for the set, they’re extremely lightweight as well. The KneeGusset™ helps prevent unwanted twisting while spreading the impact force. The X-Matter™ softshell pads are constructed of a slow-rebound foam compound that’s made to absorb high impact blows so your knees doesn’t have to. The stretchable and tear resistant Kevlar fabric provides the durability you’d expect with any trail or enduro style pad while the LoopLock™ fasteners and silicon non-slip grips will keep the pads in place.

Comments about iXS Flow Knee Guards:

Great pads, which are hard to one by. They are super light and I usually forget about them after 5 minutes with them on. They are a bit tight around the top, where it goes around the thigh, but other then that minor issue, they are great. I got a size medium and I have really small legs and they fit so you might want to size up.

Comments about iXS Flow Knee Guards:

I've gone through 661-KS, POC, and Scott knee pads and now these. At first I was a bit concerned about the sizing because they felt tight on the top, but after a few rides they have stretched to fit my leg. I measured out to be a large and that is what I purchased and by no means do I consider myself to have large legs, so if you truly have large legs muscles, then these might not work for you unless they come out with XL.

I really like how they feel while on and off the bike. The knee protection has a bit of air in between he pad and your knee cap to keep air moving through there.

The only thing I wish these had that I liked about the Scott pads is the ability to remove without removing your show first.

Comments about iXS Flow Knee Guards:

I had a really hard time deciding on a size--it's important since you cant cinch these down much. I was between the Medium and Large on the sizing chart depending on the method of measurement. A tip from another review was dead on. Measure 2" directly above the knee cap. This put me square into a size L and the pads fit very well without being tight. I am 6'2 180 and athletic with a 43-44cm measurement. The protection is adequate for most CO has to offer short of pure downhill and has just a bit less protection than the POCs i tried on. Next on the list are the elbow pads.

Comments about iXS Flow Knee Guards:

These pads are great for cross-country and enduro riding. You barely know you have them on and they stay put. I would not use these for heavy duty DH or park riding. Took a fall on the street with these. It bruised my knee underneath, but no damage on my knee or the pad. After that I bought the Flow elbow pads because I put a 3 stitch hole in my elbow. Both the knee and elbow pads are a minimal way to get some protection without padding up like a goalie.
