Luuuuube
It pays to keep some lube around. Keep it in your trunk, in your house, or in the garage. You never know when you will need some. Lather it on those parts that don't get enough attention. You'll have a smoother ride.

Grease is Grease.
People spend tens of dollars on a few ounces of grease. This is a WHOLE POUND of grease for a fraction of the dough, making it the most economical grease available. It's cheap, there's a ton of it and it works well. Use a small paintbrush to apply it to anything. It won't let you down.

PROS: It's grease, Smells Good, It's inexpensive, Lasts forever

CONS: No application tool

BEST USES: Any threaded interface, Seatposts, Headset installs, Pedal Spindles

Would not trust anything else
It's good grease. I don't know of any other cheaper alternative. Some say this is just plain marine grease but I do notice a performance difference (this grease will last longer and holds bearings in hubs a whole lot better). I use it for pretty much everything on the bike but the chain.

This grease doesn't self-clean and is not a solvent. So you must remove any previous grease or dirt before using this grease. It will protect exposed metal, but it won't treat it.

PROS: Good Tacky, Holds Loose Ball Bearings, Similar To Shimano

CONS: No applicator
