Comments about SRAM Guide R Disc Brake:

Well, I've ridden with Avid/SRAM brakes for over 8 years now and my main complaint has always been difficulty in the bleed process.

I cut both the front and rear hoses to fit to my DH bike and was dreading the bleed process, only to be pleasantly surprised to get it right on the first try.

I also purchased and paired these to the new Centerline 200mm rotors.

This review is for the Guide R only so, you still have the dead band that all avid brakes are known for; however, once contact is made, there is no longer that increased modulated feel/movement of the lever at initial pad contact that makes you wonder if you've met full power on the brakes for those "Oh Crud" moments. Instead, it has the on-off contact power that shimano is known for shortly after initial pad contact.

For those that want to switch to the quieter 200mm centerline rotors, you can still use your 203 post and IS adapters used on the 203mm rotors; however, you will have to spend about 10 minutes each with a flat file and slowly file them down a bit at a time until the pad is contacting the top and bottom of the centerline rotor.

Be careful though, because the rotor has high and low points staggered as it rotates, so do a little filing at a time and check with the caliper on the adapter as you go, to not over do it.

Hope that helps anyone looking to buy these or those with (PTABBSD) post traumatic avid brake bleed stress disorder!
