Comments about Mavic Crossride Disc Wheels 26" 2014:

I bought these wheels because I wanted a decent set of wheels for an older MTB. The price was right for a set of wheels from a quality brand like Mavic. The only thing I will caution you to, if you own an older bike with quick release skewers, is that you will need two sets of adapters for the wheels to work. It took a good deal of effort to figure out what adapters I would need to get these wheels to work with my older 9mm and 9.5mm dropouts, so I thought I would share my finding in case you are in the same situation. The front wheels have a 15mm front axle, I need them to fit a 9mm QR so I had to order Mavic part #996 941 01. On the rear, the wheels have a 12mm axle. I have a standard 9.5mm QR on the rear, so I needed Mavic part #308 731 01 to adapt them down. After I got the adapters, the wheels fit perfectly. Hope this helps!

Comments about Mavic Crossride Disc Wheels 26" 2014:

Used this wheelset for several years on a singlespeed hardtail bike. Converted to tubeless with Stan's. I am 6'4" and 215-220lbs. with gear, and I managed to knock the rear wheel out of true pretty routinely. I broke spokes a couple of times, and had to search to find bladed spokes to replace them. I finally killed the rear rim, and ended up replacing it with a Mavic Crossland, which in addition to being tubeless, has round spokes and has proven to be more durable. Keep in mind, the set I'm reviewing is the '06 Crossrides, and I'm sure Mavic has beefed up the durability since then. Overall, for the price, these are a great value and I definitely feel I got my money's worth. The front wheel is still going strong.

Comments about Mavic Crossride Disc Wheels 26" 2014:

These wheels are Mavic all the way - don't let the price fool you! They are machine made so tension goes pretty fast. Take them to teh shop and have them tensioned by hand and they are perfect. I own 2 sets of these and I am very happy.

Comments about Mavic Crossride Disc Wheels 26" 2014:

The 2009 version of these wheels came with my GT Marathon carbon, and being a wheelbuilder I wasn't expecting a whole lot with the nonadjustable bearings, the freehub riding on a plastic bushing instead of bearings, the tiny made in china stickers, the service manual saying the "extensible bearing spacers" have to be replaced with every bearing removal, and I'm not sure of the point of bladed spokes on mtb wheels. But after 3 years of abuse over nasty rocky trails the wheels are still strong and have never needed trueing. I weigh 165 lbs.

Comments about Mavic Crossride Disc Wheels 26" 2014:

For the price, these are some of the best wheels I have owned. I put these on my Specialized FSR and rode them until I sold the bike 4 years later. Rarely were they out of tru, but when they were it was difficult to straighten them out because (I think) Mavic uses some version of thread lock on the spokes.

Comments about Mavic Crossride Disc Wheels 26" 2014:

These wheels are pretty sweet as an upgrade from rim brakes. They're a little on the heavy side but I got a great deal on them and they're pretty good for the price. I've been riding on them for 6 months and have put about 600 miles on them and they're still strong and true after riding lots of rocky rooty stuff in Arizona, California, Moab, and Michigan. Freewheel is good but definitely not super expensive hub quality. Hub bearings are very nice and spin very freely even after muddy mucky rides. All around great wheel for XC/AM riding styles that I have done.

Put these wheels on my Chumba XCL. What a big difference!! They are stiff and light for how much they cost. I have pounded on them and the wheels are staying true.
