High end technologies and features have made the Crosstrail one of the best performance MTB wheelsets in its category. For 2011 it weighs 150 g less on the scale and has a distinctive new graphic. Add to that the ability to run Centerlock or 6 bolt rotors, and qr or 15mm thru front axle. Like previous versions it still offers UST Tubeless or tubed compatibility. Who said reasonable couldnt be appealing and high performance?

Just got this wheelset! They are awesome! Very fast acceleration, UST tubeless with no rim strips needed, just the valves (which are included!) and sealant and the right tires. The hubs feel very stiff for quick release and Mavic includes 6-bolt disc adapters which is awesome! Amazing wheelset! Get them you will not be disappointed!

These wheels are awesome! Almost perfect, if it wasn't for a nylon ring on the rear hub, that if not lubricated from time to time will become loose ( making the cassette have a side play)

I've been running these since December on a Trance X. We ride rocky/rooty northeast trails and we go pretty hard. The wheels have held up to everything I've thrown at them and my riding style is not exactly dainty. A couple scuffs and nicks, but they still run straight and true and have not needed service. They are tough.
They set up tubeless no problem but I have only used UST rated tires. Started out with a QR fork but upgraded to 15mm so the adaptability was key. In the box is a spoke tool, valves, and centerlock adaptors.
Gripes...
you'll need a bottom bracket tool for the supplied six bolt adaptors, or get Shimano-type centerlock retainers and use a standard cassette tool.
The QR plugs pop right out of o-ring retainers, but it's not noted on the instructions anywhere and it's virtually impossible to contact Mavic direct.
Oddly, if you put the valve caps on tight they unscrew the presta valve coming off.
Lastly, they rear hubs could have a few more points of engagement vs. some other choices.
Bottom line:
a really solid product I didn't fully appreciate at first. Tubeless is wonderful, the front QR/15mm worked great for me, and they've held up incredibly well. Not the blingiest of wheelsets but a solid performer.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I fretted for weeks on what wheels to buy for my new HT mountain bike. Finally settled on these because they seemed to fit the middle of the price/weight spectrum. I love the look of these wheels and also how easy it was to mount tubeless tires on them. On the down side, the 6 bolt adapters needed for Avid brakes is a bummer. I had it come loose on my second ride. It just doesn't feel solid. Also the manual is terrible, nowhere does it say how to convert to through axle and you won't find it on Mavic's website unless they added at my prompting. It's easy enough, you just take a screwdriver and knock the center plug out on each side...would be nice if they told you that. Otherwise no complaints on these wheels, and I've given them a beating.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Used on FS Jamis XC pro. Very nice ride. I notice no flex, no noise, tires(WTB Wolverine) sealed up great with the UST rims. Very light. I look to upgrade my fork soon, and I have the option of a 15QR thanks to the convertable front hub.
