Maxxis Highroller II 27.5 3C/Exo Tire

Maxxis High Roller II 3C Exo 27.5" Tire

Revamp your 27.5” Trail machine to the open and aggressive tread design of the High Roller II. With excellent soil penetration and mud clearing talent, the square profile provides a solid, consistent feel across the knobs. Modified knobs on the shoulder and center progress braking performance and traction on hard surfaces. Employing Maxxis’s Exo Protection, the High Roller II is cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant on the sidewalls, while remaining lightweight and flexible. The 3C Maxx Terra(triple compound) offers a comfortable combination of traction, low rolling resistance and longevity. This is a big, high-air-volume casing, yet still fairly light, thanks to the foldable bead, ideal for cross country adventures on long-travel 5 and 6” trail bikes. When gravity pulls you downhill, rely on the High Roller II to keep you upright.

Very good tires
Can't go wrong with Maxxis tires. After a lot of experimentation, I run Maxxis exclusively. The HRII is a great all round trail tire that grabs well in the corners and rolls well. Since it doesn't have intermediate cornering knobs, there is a slight loss of traction/squirm in a "light" cornering position, which pushes you to lean the bike over properly in corners (much less squirm than the Onza Ibex, which looks pretty much identical tread-wise). This also gives it more absolute grip than a tire with intermediate cornering knobs. I like the DHF/DHR combo on my SC Nomad for a little more aggressive setup that rolls worse on the climbs. My only gripe is I wish they made a 2.4 size in 29er for the HRII.

Do it...
It's the tire you want... yes it's more expensive and rarely goes on sale... but worth it. Climb like a monkey,. Decends like a bear with it's butt on fire. Side knobs allow you to rail turns like ur on a roller coaster. You can actually feel them digging in and working.

Spend the money... Do it

Great grip
I have been running this on the front of my trail and AM bike and really liking it. It may roll a bit slow but the grip is great especially in the wet. I think it grips better than the DHR 2 up front but that is just my opinion.

Good tire
I liked this tire much better for rear than front. Hooked up well, predictable when it slides, and beefy. Only thing I wish is that it came in the DD casing.
