Maxxis Highroller II 29" Dc/Exo/Tr Tire

Maxxis Highroller II DC Exo 29" Tire

Revamp your 29” Trail machine to the open and aggressive tread design of the High Roller II. With excellent soil penetration and mud clearing talent, the square profile provides a solid, consistent feel across the knobs. Modified knobs on the shoulder and center enhance braking performance and traction on hard surfaces. Maxxis’s Dual compound design features two compounds comprised of a firm, long lasting centre and a softer gripping shoulder for confidence in the corners. Employing Maxxis’s Exo Protection, the High Roller II is cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant on the sidewalls, while remaining lightweight and flexible. This is a big, high-volume casing, yet still fairly light, thanks to the foldable bead, ideal for cross country adventures on long-travel 5 and 6” trail bikes. When the trail gets technical, rely on the High Roller II to keep you upright.

New Bike. Ardent Off Front, Highroller II ON
Bought a new Pivot which had Ardents front and rear. I rode it once and replaced the front with the High Roller II because that has been my go to setup and I have confidence in the front tire. Nothing wrong with Ardents, ON THE REAR. High Roller II (EXO Sidewall) has great sidewall durability. HOWEVER, and I'm not a small guy, I find that ALL Maxxis EXO tires have very stiff sidewalls and ride much better at reduced tire pressures. I'm over 200 pounds and I regularly ride with 25 to 28 psi front tire pressure. These tires have great lean transitioning and have always given me confidence.

PROS: Great Grip, Easy To Install, Great Cornering Knobs, Durable

CONS: Harder To Pedal

The gold standard of tires
If you don't need spikes or a semi slick, this is among the best tires out there. I've ran this as a front and rear in the 2.3 width. With sufficient pressure, I rarely get flats with this tire. I've ran this tire on my long travel 29" bike for 2+ years and it is great. I also run it tubeless for as long as I can, and then put a tube in for a little longer in most cases. Easily get 3-5 months use out of them riding 3-4x a week.

PROS: Flat Rsistance, Durable, Grip

CONS: Heavy

BEST USES: DH, Mountain Biking, Aggressive Trail Riding

Nice Tire.....But Undersized
Mounted on the front of Tallboy to replace 2.4 Ardent Exo. Mounted up on Velocity Blunt(28mm) and it seems really narrow. Compared to the Ardent, the HRII is pretty small.

Mounted up Tubeless without any trouble.

Good traction in the loose, loose over hardpack and through the rocks. Not a fast rolling tire.

EXO sidewalls are sturdy. I find that I have to run lower psi with the Exo sidewalls, or the tire feels rock hard.

Overall a good tire.

PROS: Easy To Install, Durable

CONS: Inaccurate, Rolling Resistance

BEST USES: Mountain Biking, Upgrade

Great AM tire fits all my rides
I put this tire on the rear of my Enduro Comp 29er just before our DH park trip. Great grip in braking and cornering. Plenty of traction on roots and rocks. I also ride loose, sandy trails in Florida and it makes a great AM tire.

PROS: Tubeless Ready, Grippy, Durable, Decent price

CONS: A Skinny 30

BEST USES: DH, Mountain Biking, Am

Great FRONT tire, period.
Never had a problem with delivery. I usually qualify for free shipping, however I needed this tire for a ride, so selected overnight shipping (at mid-afternoon east cost time) and had my tire the next morning! Great service, for a price obviously.

Great grip, durable, a bit slow rolling.
I put a High Roller on my 2016 Stumpjumper FSR as a replacement rear tire for the original specialized purgatory that had worn out. The high roller set up tubeless without any problems using just a floor pump. It's definitely not a fast rolling cross country tire but it does have tremendous grip and so far has held up well to the rocks here in Pennsylvania.

Moar grip than you will ever need
These things bite into the dirt so well you will be smiling as you climb an insane hill or on a flat turn where you usually slip. To give you an idea on how much bite there is, I have a few climbs here that I normally struggled on because my rear would always spin out to the point where adjusting my weight distribution would not help me. I have the high rollers on the front and rear, with tubes, been meaning to go tubeless but because I have no issues with grip running around the mid 20s I have no for it. But I knew these tires were great when I was going up one the steepest climbs in my local area and the front wheel lifted off. My front wheel lifted off not because my weight distribution was off, it was because I powered down in the middle of the climb, and the extra torque made the tires bite harder enough to get me to wheelie up the hill for a solid 15 seconds, and at the same time I am rolling over roots and its still biting. I dont have any issues with lose gravel/rocks. Just a solid amazing tire for a great price.

Confidence boost
Has been great thus far about 60 miles of sandy and loose dirt conditions. Good bite out in the transition and out on the shoulder, running up front is a confidence booster. Little slip on hard pack but nothing concerning. Have it matched with ardent in back seems to be a solid combo thus far.
