The Maxxis Ikon is ideal for most cross-country riding on dry hard-packed surfaces. The tread compound provides a long wear life, as well as low rolling resistance. Shorter knobs in the center reduce rolling resistance while the higher side knobs will provide plenty of grip while cornering those loose-over-hardpacked turns. If you're looking for a true lightweight race tire, the Ikon is it.
Intended Usage: Designed for medium to loose, hard pack to loose over hard conditions
Light weight. Good Materials and construction. Foldable for packing. On the single track, sandy loose dirt, and street all around good traction and grip. So far I put on about 100 miles and so far real good
I would have shied away from this tire had I known it was a comp tire. The tire became visibly worn and ultimately blew the sidewall after 2 short Tucson rides. This tire was meant to replace a WTB tire that had been on my bike for years. I was excited to try out Maxxis tires, as I had heard good things about them. However, now I don't know if I will buy their products again.
