Maxxis Minion DHF Exo 29" Tire

Maxxis Minion DHF EXO Tubeless Ready 29” Tire

The erratic ways of all-mountain, and shall we say, “Enduro,” riding calls for an aggressive tire that delivers both speed and precision. The Maxxis Minion DHF EXO Tire does just that. The directional, ramped knob design reduces rolling resistance, saving energy on the climb for the more important plunge. Once you’ve grinded out the ascent and earned the descent, the Minion DHF unleashes its channel-cut knobs to enhance grip, providing straighter lines and more confidence in the corners. The EXO protection is a densely woven, lightweight, and highly flexible fabric that offers excellent sidewall protection, preventing cuts or abrasions in rock gardens or rooted trail areas. Of course, what would the credibility of a progressive mountain tire be without a tubeless ready setup? The tubeless ready Minion DHF uses a standard casing that requires the use of a liquid sealant for an airtight interface, delivering benefits of a UST tubeless tire without sacrificing weight. Everything sought out in a trustworthy all-mountain fun-machine or Enduro crushing tire can be found in the Maxxis Minion DHF EXO.

DHF 29x2.3 - Good tire
This is on my 2012 Santa Cruz Tallboy LT up front on a Pike. Running a 29x2.3, it replaced a 29x2.4 Ardent. The ardent was washing out on me and the DHF is gripping a lot better. I don't notice any weight penalty and I don't feel that it rolls worse then the 2.4 Ardent. I went to the 2.4 because the 2.25 I had before wasn't aggressive enough for the riding I do. I definitely recommend the DHF over the ardent for an aggressive front tire. I am riding in Virginia, places like Fountainhead.

Great tire at a great price
Showed up in Sedona for a month of riding and had the wrong tires on my 29er so quickly ordered these from Jenson. Great service from Jenson as they were at my door overnight. Amazed at how easy they were to install tubeless, did not get the loud pop as the beads seated on the rims so at first I thought they weren't seated, but they went on perfectly. Just added my Stans sealant through the valve and all done, no leaks or loss of pressure, just add a couple of PSI every couple of days. I've been banging these through the rocks here in Sedona and they've provided great traction in a variety of conditions and have stood up really well to all the sharp edges. Side walls still look like new. And even thought they are heavier than what I would normally run by about 150 grams, have found the rolling resistance to be very good. My first set of Maxxis tires and all in all I am very impressed. I'm ready to give up my Schwalbes and Contis and try some Ardents for my cross country hardtail.

I think these may be the best all condition tire period
I have tried all kinds of tires (including the Magic Mary) and I keep coming back to this one. Maybe it is the types of trails I ride (mostly rocky and over hard) or maybe this tire is just awesome. Either way, I think this tire could be the best on the market. The Magic Mary is a close second and I think is better in wet/muddy conditions but I think the DHF is a better all rounder.
