Maxxis Highroller II 26" 3C/Exo Tire

Maxxis High Roller II 3C Exo 26" Tire

Revamp your 26” Trail machine to the open and aggressive tread design of the High Roller II. With excellent soil penetration and mud clearing talent, the square profile provides a solid, consistent feel across the knobs. Modified knobs on the shoulder and center progress braking performance and traction on hard surfaces. Employing Maxxis’s Exo Protection, the High Roller II is cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant on the sidewalls, while remaining lightweight and flexible. The 3C Maxx Terra(triple compound) offers a comfortable combination of traction, low rolling resistance and longevity. This is a big, high-air-volume casing, yet still fairly light, thanks to the foldable bead, ideal for cross country adventures on long-travel 5 and 6” trail bikes. When gravity pulls you downhill, rely on the High Roller II to keep you upright.

Features:

  • Open tread design
  • Improved braking and traction
  • Lightweight folding bead
  • TPI: 60
  • Compound: 3C Maxx Terra
  • Claimed Weight: 26x2.30 - 840g, 26x2.40 - 855g

Best tire I have used.
Tons of traction and control with a fast rolling tread design and a respectable weight. Very good side wall protection works great for all mountain riding. I run the Highroller 2 3c exo tubeless front and rear, but one could run one with an Ardent 3c exo in the rear for faster acceleration without losing too much traction.

great tire
The softer compound stick to granite. It grips well as a rear tire on big ups when you need that adhesion to get up on to rocks.

Perfect upgrade for my 26er
My older GT Sensor 3.0 featured Highroller II's from the factory. I've been very happy with this setup for riding dirt and sand, and upgraded to this newer version. I also maxed out the sizes by going with a 2.4 up front and a 2.3 on the rear. Works well for my Clydesdale mass and torque!

Best Tire Yet
I've used a ton of Michelin and Continental tires over the years with varying success. Recent manufacturing defects in my last 3 Trail Kings sent me to Maxxis, as I've had great success with Detonators on my commuter and road bikes.

These are hands down the best tires I've used. Easier to mount than the Continentals, and the sealant doesn't weep through the sidewall and dry out as it did on the Trail Kings. Traction is great on the rather rugged, rocky and loose trails I frequent all over Phoenix and Sedona. Predictable handling without a lot of the oddities I read about with other Maxxis tire designs. They just work, and work very well.

They're light enough, but super durable; the dusty sidewalls are covered in marks from rock strikes after a ride, yet there is no damage whatsoever. No sealing issues and so meaty they are nearly puncture proof. Most of the goatheads and cactus spines I pull out of the tread don't even make it past the tread blocks.

They also wear pretty well. I rotated them at the beginning of the summer, and I think I'll end up with a solid year of riding on these.

Highly recommended. Buy them!

First Maxxis
I've ran Continental Trail King for years and have had several problems with them and finally switched.
I'm running it in the front and seems to corner and track excellent. So far so good.

Is this tire tubeless ready?
TRJoe on Mar 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The 26 x 2.3 is tubeless ready, the 26 x 2.4 is not. I have used both sizes on regular rims with Stans NoTubes and they work great tubeless, but require a little extra latex since they are large volume tires. Traction on this tire is very good. I typically run this tire tubeless at less than 20psi which improves traction even more. It sheds mud and grips in wet conditions.
