Comments about Intense Tire Systems Intense Tires System 5 26" XC MTB Tire:
I'm using this tire on the rear for general xc use...except I weigh 250 geared up. The tire does well on climbs and corners on the back, and did a great job shedding mud so far on the two rides thus far that I've encountered it. In fact, the first experience I had with mud on this tire was a fairly fast corner. The system 5 broke loose predictably, and I never had that "uh oh, pucker up for a crash" feeling! I think ITS makes some pretty awesome tires, each one has their application, positives and negatives. The only negatives I've encountered are 1.) make sure your air pressure is adequate enough to keep from hitting the rim (again, I think I'm probably heavier than most - 38 pounds seems adequate, if you go by the riding weight divided by 6, I'm actually running less than that starting point). And 2.) the tire leaks air slowly the first couple weeks you have it installed, but that's pretty much on-par with most tires mounted tubeless until all the Tiny holes can be covered with Stan's.
The tire is surprisingly fast rolling, tough enough to take constant beating from rocks and roots, handles mud, dry loose climbs, and loose corners well. It's light weight, and with a little struggle the first time mounted up tubeless.
