Good Choice
I have had these on a bike for about 1.5 years any they still work like they are new. Good solid feedback (click) each shift if you like that. (I do).

Shimano Alivio SL-M410
I used this to replace a grip shifter on an old Gary Fisher. It works just great and I Have had no problems. The triggers could be smoother but for the price it cannot be beat.

PROS: Works well, cheap

CONS: Not very smooth

Qick Action Fingering
Work great, tried the bar shifters and those never went over well, Finger Shifting is the ONLY way to go. Just wish they offered a matching Cassette and Derailer to go along with it. Still looking.

PROS: Doesnt Slip Gears, Holds up

BEST USES: Mountain Bike, Trail or street

Cheap without the cheap feel.
Far sight better than OG friction shifters on my vintage Cannondale project. Gear gauge is ugly, bulky and useless.

PROS: Price Is Right

CONS: A Bit Ugly

BEST USES: Mountain Biking, Upgrade

It works well
It works like it should for an 8 speed. A good price for a good product from a great company. One thing that cost a star was the off gray color of the triggers. I would rather had the flat black(or silver) to keep the flow of color.

PROS: Durable, Easy To Install

My Go-To 8 Speed Shifter
I cannot find new 8-speed Deore shifters. These Alivio 3 x 8 shifters work well. Smooth, quick indexed shifts. These trigger shifters are easier to use and more reliable than the twist shift varieties.

The only potential downside (and I will attribute my problem to my user error for now) was that I could not get the cable on the front shifter to seat correctly. I had to take it to my LBS to install a new cable.

PROS: Durable, Attractive Design, Easy To Install

CONS: Finicky Cable Replacement

BEST USES: Casual Riding, Road Biking, Mountain Biking, Upgrade

Bulky
This shifter set came stock on a bike i purchased a few years back. The shifters are very bulky, although looks have no effect on performance. Shimano always produces a quality product and these served there pourpose. if you are looking for a cheap, reliable 3x8 shifter set this is a great deal.

PROS: Shimano, cheap

CONS: Bulky design
