Prices shown in currencies other than USA Dollars are estimates based on current exchange rates. We will charge your credit card in USA Dollars on the day your order is shipped, and the conversion to your local currency will be done at the prevailing rate by your credit card issuer.
Shipments outside the USA are declared as “bike parts” for customs purposes and will include the actual amount paid for merchandise and shipping. Jenson USA will not mark your parcel as a “gift”, declare a value lower than the actual price paid, or otherwise prepare false customs information.

To put it plainly, wider rims are superior to narrow rims. Why? Where do we begin? Wider rims dramatically increase traction, reduce rolling resistance, decrease tubeless “burping”, provide a stiffer, stronger, lighter wheel, and plenty more. Let us introduce you to the Ibis 741 Carbon Wheels; wide, lightweight, tubeless, and best of all: modestly priced.
The rims on the 741 Carbon 27.5” measure a gaping 41mm outside and 35mm inside. This is one of the widest carbon rims available before going to Fat Bike-specific 50mm rims! As the "new wide", the 741 Carbon wheels provide incredible support to the tire’s sidewall, allowing lower pressures without the tire folding over or burping. This significantly increases stability and traction, enabling faster cornering and braking, and better traction in all conditions. Lower pressures also mean lower rolling resistance.
Since impact damage is the way most carbon rims are damaged, the 741 Carbon rims are hookless to increase resilience. By eliminating the inverted “J” built into the rim walls, the rim is designed with a solid rectangle in place of the hook, allowing the rim to be much stronger in the area where impacts occur. This spreads the impact out over a larger area that is also supported by more material. After extensive testing, Ibis found a 50 – 300% improvement in impact strength than competing rims with hooks, without any detriment to tubeless performance and reliability.
Aside from the progressive rim width, the carbon fiber construction has allowed Ibis to build a 475 gram rim, which is lighter than many of the narrower, weaker, alloy rims on the market. Additionally the carbon material provides a stiffer, more responsive ride. The lack of wallowing sidewalls, and the dramatic increases in rim stiffness and contact patch area, enables a sturdier planted feel.
Each spoke hole is individually reinforced with extra carbon to achieve a stronger rim than the spokes, so the rim won’t damage if a spoke breaks. The 741 is built no-nonsense with 32 conventional spoke and standard exposed nipples. This allows tuning without special tools or dismounting the tire and rim tape. Although, using fewer spokes may have been lighter, using more spokes offers better long-term durability and the best stiffness.
The Ibis 741 Carbon 27.5 Wheelset: wider is better.
