Industry Nine Torch Enduro 27.5" Wheelset

The Industry Nine Enduro wheelset isn't exactly a new kid on the block. The Enduro name stands for the same thing it did back when Industry Nine introduced their Enduro wheelset five years ago: reliability, strength, and performance above all else.

The Industry Nine Torch Enduro 27.5" Wheelset is latest and greatest enduro-specific wheelset from Industry Nine. The Torch Enduro 27.5" utilizes Industry Nine's highly-praised Torch hubs, which act as the centerpiece to this incredible wheelset. The Torch hub and spoke platform offer substantial weight savings without sacrificing strength or performance. The Torch Enduro 27.5's tapered spokes are thicker without being heavy, the hubshell is lighter without giving up strength, and the freehub driver is thinner while still maintaining an exceptionally quick engagement. Industry Nine maximizes durability by utilizing Teflon shields and O-rings that snap onto the hub endcaps. This protective measure, combined with two seals on each bearing, helps to keep grit out and significantly increases bearing life. Torch hubs also offer the convenience of compatibility with most modern axle sizes. The Torch hub allows you swap end caps to adapt to new standards or changes in setup as you switch your wheels to another bike. The Torch Enduro rim's massive 26mm internal width provides plenty of support for your tires, increases the contact patch for better traction, and reduces the chance of pinch flats. Paired with Industry Nine's tubeless technology, you can kiss flat tires goodbye.

The Industry Nine Torch Enduro 27.5" Wheelset is light enough to cover mile after mile of singletrack yet strong enough to handle anything that crosses it's path. If versatility is a top priority, look no further than this exceptional set of wheels. Enduro might not always be called Enduro, but the type of riding it entails is here to stay. Get on board with the team that's been there since the beginning.

Stiffness unknown to alloy wheels
Behold, the everyman's answer to the $2900 carbon wheelset: The Industry Nine Torch wheel line.

When I slapped these on my Orbea Rallon, I was fully expecting standard alloy wheel performance. For those of you who've spent time on carbon hoops, you know what I mean - that dead, slightly squishy, less-than-inspiring feeling. Like your high-zoot suspension and frame isn't living quite up to expectations. It's the downside of getting spoiled by super-stiff carbon wheels and then jumping back to alloy.

All of that negativity said, Industry Nine has managed to accomplish with the Torch what others have failed at - create a relatively affordable alloy wheel that can do battle with the carbon offerings out there. And, on top of it all, one built with probably the best hubs currently on the market. I found my bike riding with that familiar on-rails feeling coupled with incredible responsiveness and the instant engagement of the Torch hub.

Weight is respectable for such a wide, durable alloy wheel - one of the key spots where carbon will take the cake. But, that said, the biggest advantage to a carbon wheelset on a mountain bike - stiffness - is realized with the Torch wheels. These definitely get a recommendation in my book. Drop me a line if you need a set! nate@jensonusa.com

The Best hubs and alloy hoops money can buy
The Pros section says it all. These are light weight with almost no perceptible forward movement on the cranks before engagement. Confidence inspiring stiffness that leave no question as to what the bike is doing under you. With all those points of engagement they are loud but if you're ripping the down hill like these are meant to then you wont notice or care.

CONS: Loud

Sick wheel set!
These wheels are very well made , zero flex that I could feel , they look awesome and all your friends can hear you coming with the rattlesnake sound rear hub!
The only thing is dogs don't seem to like the sound of the rear hub and had one chase me on the trail! Ha ha !
The only con I have is they took forever to get on a custom build order but was worth the wait.
