Industry Nine Torch Trail 29" Wheelset

The Industry Nine Torch Trail 29" wheelset delivers a new paradigm for the backcountry riding experience. With an incomparable stiffness to weight ratio and wide, tubeless-ready rims, the Trail wheels destroy technical singletrack. These wheels are equally at home turning laps at your local trail system or venturing into the backcountry on an epic multi-day adventure.

The Industry Nine Torch Trail 29" wheelset utilizes Industry Nine's highly-praised Torch hubs, which act as the centerpiece to this incredible wheelset. The Torch hub and spoke platform offer substantial weight savings without sacrificing strength or performance. The Torch Trail 29's tapered spokes are thicker without being heavy, the hubshell is lighter without giving up strength, and the freehub driver is thinner while still maintaining an exceptionally quick engagement. Industry Nine maximizes durability by utilizing Teflon shields and O-rings that snap onto the hub endcaps. This protective measure, combined with two seals on each bearing, helps to keep grit out and significantly increases bearing life. Torch hubs also offer the convenience of compatibility with most modern axle sizes. The Torch hub allows you swap end caps to adapt to new standards or changes in setup as you switch your wheels to another bike. Precision, style, and all kinds of compatibility options—what's not to like about the Industry Nine Torch Trail 29" Wheelset?

Comments about Industry Nine Torch Trail 29" Wheelset:

I am an old(er) roadie by trade that would like to do some endurance MTB racing for a change. I was looking for a couple of months for an upgrade to a raceworthy wheelset, obsessing about different materials, weights, looking for a light set but nothing that could be finished and ready for the dumpster after a single season and require taking another mortgage to pay the price at the same time, before taking a big breath and pulling the trigger on this set. Well, must say that I am amazed by these wheels. The weight is in the range of some of my road wheels while the rims are pretty wide, certainly for what I am used to. I never did a tubeless setup before and felt a bit intimidated by all the information on the web. These wheels came taped and with valves installed. Kenda Smallblocks went on with no problem (had them mounted on my bike's OEM wheels with tubes for several weeks so they where nicely pre-shaped). I put the rear tire on the rim and full of doubt about what I am actually doing I started working the floor pump as if my life depended on it. The bead seated in seconds with a couple of snappy sounds and that was it. No leaks, no readjustments, no nothing. No problem. It was done. Simple as that. So I put the other tire on the front wheel and started pumping really leisurely this time. No sharp snaps but the bead engaged with no problem again. Honestly, a little girl could do that, the pumping was that easy. I have not added any sealant yet and the tires lost maybe 10-15% of those 40 PSI I had put in them 3 weeks ago. Granted, they where not ridden, just sitting in my basement but still. Are the SCT tires not supposed to be leaking air without added sealant? I am perplexed. Unfortunately the trails in my area are under 2-3 ft. of compacted snow so I won't be able to take the wheels for a ride for at least 2 more months. If you don't hear from me again before the next summer is over it means that I am too busy riding them for bothering with another review.
