Yeti’s all new for 2014 SB75 is their SB series 27.5” (650b), 5-inch travel, trail machine. The unique Switch Suspension Technology makes for a smooth ride with extremely efficient pedaling without sacrificing small bump sensitivity. Blindly turn into a rock garden or rutted downhill with the confidence that your suspension will eat it up. The oversized structure on the front end and oversized chain and seat stays on the rear keeps the SB75 stiff which directly improves the handling and overall feel of the bike. The compact, forged unibody construction of the upper pivot and eccentric assembly create a seal to keep any debris out, keeping you from having to service the bearings as often. The SB75 features Yeti’s classic, ride-driven geometry (slacker head tube angles, lower bottom bracket, longer top tube) pared with oversized tubing on the front and rear end making this in-betweener handle like no other.
The Yeti SB75 utilizes Switch suspension technology which was first seen on their 26” and 29” SB models. Yeti has since adapted, reengineered and tested it over and over until it was perfectly suited for these ‘mid-size’ wheels. The basics still hold true - super efficient in all gear combinations without sacrificing traction and comfort. Switch suspension is an ingenious design that uses an oversized main pivot that actually contains a second pivot (lower pivot of the swing arm) which is offset within the main. Once the eccentric mechanism reaches the inflection point (about 100mm into the travel), the eccentric link starts to rotate in the forward (clockwise) direction. This means the rate at which the chain stays grows [dCSL] drops off quickly, allowing the suspension to work independently of chain forces and pedal feedback. Because the suspension isn’t being impeded by chain growth in the last third of the travel, the smooth feel in the middle of the stroke continues all the way to the full compression without unexpected spikes or wallows.
To gently guide you through the mountain, Yeti chose top-notch suspension pieces. Up front is the Fox 34, with 140mm of suspension. The Fox 34 features Kashima Coating for less friction, ultimately resulting in smoother suspension. The 15mm axle further improves the ride, providing superior handling and front end stiffness. The Fox Float rear shock features CTD technology. Climb Trail Descend (CTD) allows you to quickly micro-tune your rear suspension while on the trail. The quick and easy adjustment allows you to change settings multiple times while out on a ride. A nice blend of SRAM components can be found throughout the SB-75 Enduro. SRAM X7 shifters are paired to a SRAM X9 rear derailleur and SRAM X7 front derailleur. The Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic disc brakes quickly bring you to a halting stop while the DT Swiss M1900 wheelset is strong, lightweight, and rugged enough to stand up to the trail.
"I'm familiar with both the SB66 and the SB95 and like both very much, but I feel the 75 is the best of the three. Quicker and more playful than the 95, and easier to ride and less descent-oriented than the 66, it strikes a middle ground that I personally love." - Matt Phillips at Bicycling.com

Comments about Yeti Cycles Yeti SB-75 Enduro Bike 2014:
I'm 53, ride 5 days a week on average, sometimes I slum it and ride a road bike...! :) After a couple weeks of owning the SB75 and hitting many different parks and types of trails in Phoenix, AZ, I'm convinced I made the best decision buying this bike. My only complaint is the bike is a couple pounds heavier than I'd like it to be, but I realize the 650b wheels do add some extra weight, and the trade off is well worth it. The wheel size for me is the perfect balance for both speed and technical climbs. I was instantly comfortable and confident with this bike after the first day of riding it.
Comments about Yeti Cycles Yeti SB-75 Enduro Bike 2014:
I bought this bike to ride steeper and rougher trails where a pure cross-country bike has limitations. The bike has excellent straight-line traction and handles predictably. I have the Enduro build, which includes the Fox Float fork and CTD shock, both with Kashima coating. I also added a dropper seatpost. The bike is on the heavy side, so long climbs are a chore. It clears short steep ledges very well, and is surprisingly maneuverable. Descending is its strong suit, and can be pushed deep into corners. The rear slides predictably when you need it to.
The front derailleur housing is routed on the bottom of the down tube and is vulnerable to trail debris. Otherwise, no design issues.
My first upgrades will be lighter 650b wheels (I have the heavy DT Swiss M1900 now) and carbon bars.
