As a tire connosieur, I am impressed with the ride of these tires. Riding them in the 25c size on a 23mm rim is awesome. They're very lightweight tires and these instantly took a solid half pound off my bike (I was on Challenge Strada Open tubulars before). These aren't as lively or comfortable as the proper open tubular, though. I think it has to do with the casing design. However, these are very fast, very responsive tires.

I don't feel as confident for whatever reason with these through corners as the open tubulars. I think it might have to do with the casing. They certainly corner well and have great grip however. For whatever reason they just don't feel like they "carve" as well. Could be all in my head. I'm a 170lb guy running 90psi rear, 85psi front, and I've been experimenting with different pressures and found these to be the most pleasing. YMMV.

My buddy cut these really bad on a shard of glass on a recent ride... so avoid glass with these tires. The rubber compound and casing work together in such a way to be a little less resistant to slicing but seem to be pretty puncture resistant otherwise. Still recommended if you're looking for a really great all-around tire!

Bought these on the recommendation of a friend because he uses these exclusively. I had been using the Inexpensive version of this tire called the Grand Prix and loved the ride quality. It was time to upgrade tires after 2000 miles so I bought the Grand Prix S II. There are lots of comments online about these S II tires easily getting sidewall cuts and after only riding 20 miles on them I developed a rear sidewall cut. This cut developed on a typical road I ride regularly. I immediately returned the set of tires and Jenson Customer service was great. I bought the Grand Prix 4 Season Tires instead and ridden without problems for 300 miles. Very happy with the 4 Seasons instead of the S II.

Expectations Blown Away

Comments about Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II Tire:

Running these tires in a 700x25 size for the first time. You will not be disappointed with these tires - they are fast, have very low rolling resistance, and great puncture resistance. It is truly unbelievable the decrease in pedal power required to get these tires rolling - I was blown away. In the corners there is very strong feedback - you can feel the tires gripping and telling you that the next time you can go faster.

Comments about Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II Tire:

I was apprehensive ordering a pair of folding tires as I have never had to install one before. But I was able to install them quite easily. The tires are fantastic for the price - responsive and comfortable. I went with 700x25 and I'm very pleased with them.

Roll fast, nice and sticky, puncture resistant. Always use Michelin Pro Race 3 and 4 in past. I like these a lot better.

This tire has come Ted a 600k brevet. It now has about 1000 miles on it and going strong. I do a lot of commuting and the reflective sidewall makes me more visible. Great all around tire.
