Ergon SME3 Pro Enduro Saddle

As the enduro wave continues to swell, Ergon’s experts have moved their focus to developing enduro-specific ergonomics. Starting with a v-shaped design, the SME3 allows for a full range of position changes to accommodate the frequent adjustments in saddle height. To meet the indecisive ways of enduro riding, Ergon reformed the padding of their popular XC saddle, flattening out the profile with no kick up at the rear, enabling fast switches from sitting to standing, to crushing a decent from behind the saddle. The EVA padding and flex optimized shell enhances comfort for those long days of pedaling undulating terrain, while the microfiber cover is both lightweight and robust to ensure longevity without adding unnecessary weight. When it’s all said and done, the SME3 is a fine choice for a quick upgrade before this weekend’s race!

  • Claimed Weight: 9-11cm: 225g/ 11-13cm: 230g
  • Rails: TiNox
  • Carbon Fiber - Ultra Thin Y-Flex Construction
  • EVA padding
  • Silicon nose flanks to prevent rubbing
GEOMETRY
Size Small Medium Large
Sit Bone Width 9-11cm 11-13cm 13-15cm
Saddle Width 13.5cm 14.5cm 15.5cm

Sit bone width is to be measured while sitting in an
upright position.

Measurement should be made in an
upright position, however when taking the
normal more forward MTB riding position,
the V-Form of the pelvis means the areas
supporting the weight are narrower than
the sit bone width. This explains the
required saddle width often being narrower
than the measured sit bone width

Comments about Ergon SME3 Pro Enduro Saddle:

I got this saddle because I got a dropper post and the saddle that I had was an Ibeam that would not work with it. It is very comfortable and easy to shift around on while riding on technical trail. The only thing that I am not sure about is the durability necause I had a crash and it made a little rip in the saddle on the edge.

Comments about Ergon SME3 Pro Enduro Saddle:

I wore out the sides of my previous seat (SM3 Large). According to Ergon, I should have had a medium as etermined by my sit bone measurement. The new SME3 Medium looks great and feels fantastic.

Comments about Ergon SME3 Pro Enduro Saddle:

I bought this saddle primarily based on looks and my past experience with Ergon grips, hoping it would also be comfortable. So far, I've been very happy.

I like the flat shape. The enduro model tapers off at the back to make it easier to shift your weight behind the saddle. There definitely isn't much padding, but it has been comfortable with padded shorts (even on long rides).

I am concerned about the long-term durability of the sides. I'm pretty sure that material is just going to rip to shreds if I go down or am careless about laying it down or leaning it up against the wrong thing. Most other mtb saddles I've used have some more rugged material there.

All in all, I'm happy with the seat & would buy it again.

Comments about Ergon SME3 Pro Enduro Saddle:

I shopped around for quite awhile to get a new saddle for my Specialized Epic Comp 29er MTB before pulling the trigger on the Ergon SME# Pro Enduro saddle. I frequently ride on rocky single track trails and it can be important to remain seated while climbing to maintain traction. I race adventure races and long events as well. For me this is the perfect saddle. I will always sacrifice weight for function and durability. There are lighter saddles out there but I won't ever try them because this one works so well for me. My bike has been down on the trail more times than I care to admit but the saddle has remained unscathed. It is tough and comfortable and although not a feather weight, it is not heavy either.
