The myth of the Dragon is one of fire breathing creatures that live to terrorize man and their kingdoms. The Jamis Dragon is not the kind that breathes fire, but rather breathes steel and lives to terrorize the trail. The Jamis Dragon is the mountain bike that built Jamis’ strong reputation in the early years, and the legend is still going strong. If you’re loyal to the 26” wheel size and committed to the character and liveliness of a steel hardtail, the Dragon Pro offers a mountain biking in its purest form.
In 2011 the Dragon Pro was the lightest possible Dragon you could get. Crafted from Reynolds 853 air- hardened steel, the Dragon Pro provides an incredibly resilient and sturdy ride. For the drivetrain, the Dragon Pro employs Shimano Deore XT components including the shifters, both front and rear derailleurs, and the Hallowtech II crankset, for a seamlessly versatile, yet efficient drivetrain. The Shimano Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes bring you to a quick stop, once you’ve decided to pack it in for the day. The Rock Shox Tora TK 29 fork features 32mm stanchions and 100mm of travel for small bump suspension without reduced stiffness. External rebound damping allow you to customize your suspension to your riding conditions, while the lockout restricts the air spring suspension for rigidity and power transfer.
The WTB Silverado Comp saddle is super light and comfortable, while the Ritchey Comp stem, handlebar and seatpost produce a firm front end for excellent control. The Dragon’s proven geometry is both functional on the up hills and comfortable going down. Pair the Dragon Pro bomb-proof steel frame with its clever build-group, and throw in the agility of 26” wheels with 100mm of travel on top, and you’ve got yourself the fun-machine you’ve always wanted. To ride a Dragon was once thought impossible. Now you can ride your very own.
