Blood, Sweat, & Beers! The embodiment of cyclocross
From its weight-saving Carbon Compaction System frame production process, to its shouldering friendly geometry, the BSB is fine tuned in every way for life between the tape, under the beer showers, and atop the podium.
As the BSB graces the cross scene with Niner's beloved mountain bike heritage, it also introduces a cutting edge carbon fiber frame production process known as Carbon Compaction System. It uses a pre-shaped Styrofoam mold encased by a bladder that the carbon is then laid around. The firm Styrofoam core provides the desired shape of the frame and a solid platform for the carbon. The bladder is then inflated to fully compress the carbon against the outer metal mold for accurate compaction and a smooth inside wall. Resulting in a stronger, lighter weight frame with fewer potential weak spots.
The overall shape of the tubing is intensively designed to meet the demands of cyclocross racing, including the iconic art of shouldering the bike. Cross-junkies will find friendly flats, comfortable shoulder positioning and attentive placement of cables to aid in the best cyclocross technique. The sub-1000 gram RDO carbon layup race frame offers unfathomable amounts of stiffness for slogging through mud and kicking up fly-overs. Featuring a cross-specific geometry, including a steep head angle, the BSB will see you through tight corners and sprint finishes, while the bottom bracket height is specific to crank length for better clearance on off camber course features. Niner applies their rigid carbon fork expertise into the BSB's front end to offer the off-road ride quality that dedicated cross racers need to thrive. The BSB fork combines the tapered head tube with the 15mm front axle for unmatched front end stiffness and maneuverability. The flatter edges on the fork enhance lateral stiffness and prevent race-killing brake rub.
The Niner BSB Rival 1X Jenson bike will arrive on your doorstep with a race ready set of components including, a SRAM 1X drivetrain, with Rival 1 shift/hydraulic brake levers, a SRAM Rival 1 crankset, 11 speed cassette and rear derailleur. SRAM hydraulic brake calipers and rotors keep the speed in check and put all the stopping power right at your fingertips. The Easton EA70 wheels are wrapped in Schwalbe Racing Ralph 33mm wide rubber and Niner bar, stem, carbon seatpost and SDG saddle handle all the cockpit duties.

I dig the 1x drive train---plenty of range unless you're wanting to pedal hard at 40+mph and don't want to be spun out. The gear gaps are fine, no complaints. The wide through axles are solid, hydro brakes perfect. Supposedly its more for cyclocross but I've been using it for gravel races/rides---cx season is 6 months away. its rated for max 40mm tires, but I squeezed 45mms in the front very easily, and in the rear of frame with a only little room to spare. I'll probably get a 38-tooth ring for better climbing gears in long gravel races, but the stock 42 is fine.
Its nimble and very light. It damps road vibration really well but is stiff. The only thing worth upgrading are the wheels, but they are more than adequate. I'm 6'0" tall with 34" inseam and I ride the 56 cm frame. Fits great!
Great , first ride was a 50 mile gravel race, handled very well. I’m 5-10 went with the 53 - perfect, very comfortable and gearing was fine even for steep hills. Very happy- I may switch out for some wider tires though for longer gravel races
