Niner ROS 9 Frame and Crank 2015

ROLL. OVER. STUFF! If you like hardtails, but wish they were a little more modern and a lot more capable, the Niner ROS 9 is the steel hardtail for you. Pair a rock-solid steel frame with aggressive trail geometry and modern technology and you have a rippin' frame that will last a lifetime.

Handling-wise, the ROS 9 features super-short chainstays and a slack headtube angle to improve handling at high speeds. Paired with a shorter stem, you'll have plenty of control on rough descents without twitchiness. This makes for a 29er that not only is incredibly stable and controllable, but fun and playful. It's a bike built for ripping and pumping. It works with a variety of forks as well, so depending on your riding style, Niner recommends a 120-140mm fork.

Modern details abound on this frame. Thru-axle 12x142mm rear dropouts pair with thoughtful details like a replaceable alloy hanger and a removable front derailleur mount. With a the included BioCentric II bottom bracket, the frame is also single-speed capable. If running this as a multi-speed, the BB height can be adjusted when using a BioCentric II bottom bracket to fit this bike to your specific needs.

The R.O.S. 9 accepts internal "stealth" and externally routed dropper posts, along with an alloy cover to block the port and keep out any debris if you choose not to use it. The ROS 9 also features unique tabs under the bottom bracket shell to mount a proprietary MRP XCG bash guard (sold separately).

We have included a SRAM S1000 2x BB30 crank and bottom bracket for you in the box to get you started. A solid-performing alloy crank that will work fine with SRAM or Shimano 2x10 or 2x11 systems. (High direct mount, top pull front derailleur required)

Whether you have some extra parts laying around you need to tie into a frame or building your dream hardtail, ROS 9 is ready for you. Come and get it.

Too much fun on a27.5+ ROS9
I have found the perfect single speed. Fitted 27.5" 2.8" tires to the bike and its an absolute blast to ride in pretty much any conditions. Came from a One9 and the slacker front end and the more relaxed riding position of the ROS9 fits my riding style perfectly.

Killer Frame
First off, this frame is gorgeous. Welds are perfect, paint scheme is awesome (I went with the purple/green). Built up the bike with a 140 mm revelation and XT brakes, running SS. Bike geometry is exactly what I was looking for, super slack, short rear end. Can't believe the frames are still in stock at this price.

My new favorite bike
I love this bike. I learned a lot about putting this bike together. I was very happy when I rode it the first time and nothing fell off.
This bike is a good climber and handles everything on the way down.
I am surprised that Niner is not offering this frame any longer, I think its a winner!

Great riding frame with alot of neat little details.
I've been riding my ROS for the whole summer of 2016 and I've got to say it took my riding skills to the next level. My previous bike was an aluminum Tallboy V1.0 and it was getting worn out with flex in the rear triangle due to worn bearings. The ROS feels slack and low where the Tallboy feels steep and tall. I built my ROS with a Pike, my Tallboy had a Revelation. The ROS as a whole feels like one flex-free piece from front axle to rear axle. The cornering and handling precision the ROS/Pike combo delivers is really superior to my worn Tallboy/Revelation. 2016 was my best riding/most fun I've had in 20 years of mountain biking. I had some laugh out loud moments when my fitness, the weather, trail conditions, and bike tune all came together and I had the best ride of my life back in September. I have no regrets going from a full-suspension bike to a hardtail. This frame has a great ride, with tons of tire clearance. If you've looked at a lot of frames, you'll notice all the little details that make this frame stand apart.
One word of caution. The derailleur hanger/axle nut just sits loose on the frame and is easy to cross thread and can ruin both your axle and hanger if done up wrong. My ham-fisted mechanic did this to me when my bike was first built up. I rode it for months until I got a flat and couldn't take the wheel off until that same mechanic helped me with two sets of pliers to get the axle out. I didn't think I could really blame him because I rode the frame for months and who really know what happened to the axle over that time. But I'm pretty sure he cross threaded it. I took that opportunity to upgrade the dropout and axle to a Shimano direct mount version and everything is great once again.

BEST ANSWER: I'm pretty sure it didn't when I bought this frame a few years ago. It's been one awesome bike though, really love it
