Niner WFO 9 Jenson GX 11-Speed Bike

An Efficient Pedaler for All-Mountain Magic

If you mentioned the concept of a 29er on big terrain a few years ago, there is a good chance you would’ve been laughed at by riders and industry professionals everywhere. Here we are in 2014, and the Niner WFO 9 is one of the industry’s first long-travel big-wheelers, and boy is it equipped and ready for a good time!

This All-Mountain masher is ready to shed some light on what 29” wheels can do when you give them nearly 6” of travel to play with. The progressive “confidence inspiring” geometry provides slack enough angles that you might even find yourself contemplating on racing this beast Downhill. Yet it’s not so slack that you’d find it difficult cornering tight turns or climbing. The WFO is constructed with air formed tubing which allows for careful shaping and control over wall thickness to optimize strength and stiffness in key areas. These hydroformed tubes paired with the tapered headtube and 12x142mm rear axle ensure the WFO remains stiff and strong from head to rear axle.

The WFO doesn’t handle like any other long-travel bike you’ve ever ridden before. The 29” wheel platform provides a shallower angle of attack when riding over obstacles, which increases your ability to get down the most rutted sections with ease, while the tapered headtube reduces fork deflection, keeping your line straight and true. The long-travel and big wheels will eat up just about anything that dares to get in your way. You’ll find yourself getting down some seriously sketchy sections quicker and easier than before.

The WFO 9 features Niner’s patented CVA suspension which is the only suspension system created for the sole purpose to be used on 29” bikes. In other words, they did not modify suspension that was created for a 26” wheel. The CVA suspension was created with the goal of crafting an efficient suspension platform for the 29" bike. Due to the location of the lower pivot bolt, chain torque effectively isolates and cancels out the forces that can create inefficiency in pedal stroke. The result is unparalleled pedal efficiency, and remarkable sensitivity. CVA has excellent small bump compliance, to ensure that your ride is as smooth as it is fast.

This Jenson USA exclusive build pairs the WFO 9 with components from SRAM's praised X1 and GX group. The wide range GX drivetrain brings SRAM's 11-speed mountain drivetrain to the masses with a lower price point without sacrificing performance. while the GX is slightly heavier than Sram's offerings, you'll still be offered a wide gear range thanks to the Sram XG 1150 10-42 teeth cassette. Race Face's Ride Narrow 32 teeth 1x powers their own Turbine wheels wrapped with Schwalbe Nobby Nic's 29-inch tires.

With its slack headtube, shorter top tube and chainstays, long-travel, and SRAM GX set-up, after it’s all said and done, the Niner WFO 9 is the closest thing to a downhill 29er. The larger 29” wheel size gobbles up roots, rocks and ruts so much its almost unfair, while the new geometry allows it to still handle with the precision and flickability of its smaller wheeled relatives. The CVA suspension system makes climbing much more efficient, reducing wasteful bob and maximizing power transfer. Between the bigger wheel size, the nearly 6” of travel, and the new geometry and suspension system, the WFO 9 is faster and smother, both up hill and downhill; a pure bred Enduro machine that’ll turn heads... quickly!

Niner WFO is a great buy.
The delivery was on time with no problems. I asked for a different drive gear, to my surprise it was already installed!

its a really good bike
I had to get the brakes bled a week after getting it because they were still feeling soft. They feel great now, as with all the other great components on the bike.

Upgrade from a hard tail
I live in northern Colorado and almost all of my riding buddies ride Niners. After a year of getting beat up by my hard tail I decided to pull the trigger on this bad boy and I absolutely love it! 150mm of travel and 29" tires make the trails so much easier to handle. I don't know how I ever rode without a dropper post. This bike has all you need. Don't hesitate, just purchase and get out on the trails.

Wide F-ing Open is Right F-ing On!
The WFO Jenson build is tough (dare I say impossible) to beat at this price - top notch components all around, light overall, lots of travel etc. make this bike hard not to love. As a former 26" disciple, I can now say I'm a 29er convert - on the down side now I can't call my 29er riding buddies cheaters... Some VERY minor nitpicky things: wheels are a little on the heavy side (but plenty stiff), lack of internal cable routing (makes for easier servicing at least), and the height of the bottom bracket took some getting used to (I find myself bashing the BB more often than on the ol' 26er on uphill technical/rocky sections). That said, if any of those things make you think twice about buying this bike then you're too uptight for this sport - go play golf and stay off my trails! Oh - and the Jenson bike build will have you a nearly fully-assembled bike shipped to your doorstep - a simple quick couple turns of some allen wrenches and you're ready to ride in sub-30 minutes! This bike makes me want to ride, ride, and ride some more - and isn't that the point?

Many of the parts in the description don't match the parts in the spec table. I'm strongly considering this bike, but would like to know what parts are actually on it.
