Niner ROS 9 2014 Frame

The Niner ROS 9 can be summed up as a Frankein-bike that embodies the classic ride quality of steel, the responsiveness and simplicity of a hardtail, and the geometry of an aggressive trail bike. The versatile 4130 Cro-Mo steel frame with aggressive geometry brings modern technology (oversized headtube, internally routed dropper post routing, and 12x142mm rear dropouts) to a frame that will last a lifetime. Borrowing the SIR 9’s rear dropout design, the ROS 9 allows 12x142mm rear hub configurations while still supporting the replaceable alloy derailleur hanger. This also allows more surface area for a full weld around the entire end of the chain and seat stays ultimately creating a stiffer rear end.

Also borrowing its lines and design language from the SIR 9, the ROS 9 bulks up the tubes to add some muscle, ensuring it can handle the trail’s abuse. Featuring super-short chainstays and a slack headtube angle, the ROS 9 offers superior handling at higher speeds, while the oversized headtube allows the use of tapered forks that considerably reduce fork deflection, keeping your big wheeled beast running straight and true. The R.O.S. 9 accepts internal and externally routed dropper posts with an alloy cover to block the port and keep out any debris if you choose not to use it. The ROS 9 also features tabs under the bottom bracket shell to mount a proprietary MRP XCG bash guard (sold separately).

The BioCentric Bottom Bracket makes adjustments easy across a wide range of gears and eliminates the need for adjustable dropouts, giving the cleanest possible solution for singlespeed use. The BioCentric offsets the bottom bracket spindle 8.5mm from center, offering greater range of adjustment compared to a more traditional EBB setup. Conventional EBB units mounted with set screws that can become tricky to finely adjust over time, or expansion wedges that can warp the bottom bracket shell of the frame, while split BB shells that clamp an EBB can stretch or ovalize. The BioCentric II shuns these quandaries by using two bolts to apply a clamping force on the outside edges of the BB shell, eliminating the likelihood of ovalizing or indexing the shell itself. The BioCentric II will certainly have you seeing singlespeed living in a whole new light.
