Niterider

If you’re riding on the streets, you should have lights on your bike regardless if you’re riding during the day or at night. Lights help increase your visibility with motorists around you and work excellently at night as well as during the daytime. Niterider is dedicated to designing the highest quality performance products, using the best materials and latest technologies and will always provide extraordinary customer service. Niterider was started by accident and by necessity when Tom Carroll found out that the best surfing was at night. He needed a light that was waterproof, extremely bright, lightweight, and hands-free. He found that the light that he created was not only great for surfing, but it worked well for riding the bike trails at night as well. Tom and his wife built Niterider in their kitchen and worked hard to create a light that would stand the test of time. Now, Niterider is one of the most recognizable brands in the cycling community.

Niterider makes lights that work for every situation like cycling, power sports, and other outdoor activities like hiking. For cycling, they have four main categories of Niterider bike lights. These lights include mountain biking, road cycling, urban cycling, and rear lights. For mountain bike front lights, they typically have a wider beam than a road or urban light. This is because mountain bike trails usually have tight, technical turns that require you to see around the corners. Some mountain lights use external batteries to power the high output. Road lights and urban lights are often interchangeable with each other. Road lights are often more powerful since road riders ride faster than urban riders. Urban lights are more compact and often times less powerful.

Tail lights these days are just as beneficial to use during the daytime as they are to use at night. Most of the Niterider rear lights have DVF, or Daylight Visible Flash, mode that lets motorists see riders better. Unfortunately, many drivers can be distracted on the road, so increasing your visibility is highly beneficial. For riding at night, some of their lights, like the Sentinel light, have highly visible laser lanes. This means the light projects lines on the ground that gives riders their own virtual lane. Rear lights come with a mount to wrap around round tubes like seat posts or seat tubes. Most rear lights also come with a clip that allows you to mount it on the back of a seat bag if it has a loop.

The majority of Niterider lights are USB rechargeable and don’t require batteries to work. A USB charging cable is included with rechargeable lights. Front lights come with a handlebar mount and some can even be helmet mounted. All their lights come with different light settings such as a high, medium, low, and flash mode. Some of the lights, like the Niterider Lumina 1200 Boost, have a boost mode that provides maximum brightness to light up as much terrain possible. Run times will vary depending on the mode that is used. Modes that use lower lumens will run longer than modes that use higher lumens.
