ODI Ruffian Lock-On Replacement Grips

Lock-On grips are becoming increasingly evident on mountain bike courses and trails around the world, as more and more riders come to realize the benefits of ODI's revolutionary system. Along with complete non-slip performance, cyclists appreciate that, for the first time, they can easily change styles to meet varying terrain, race or weather conditions. They also enjoy the economics of not having to cut off and destroy a perfectly good pair of grips anytime they want to change shifters or brakes.

The grip of choice for most leading pros, the Ruffian combines an ultra narrow racing profile with a rugged diamondized surface for maximum control. Ideally suited for smaller hands or riders using gloves.

I bought these in purple for my daughter's bike. She likes how "sticky" they are and the diameter is fine for her 13 year old hands. She does have long piano playing fingers though. They aren't as large in diameter as the ODI Rogue grips I use. I also bought red rings to go with my grips and put my old black rings on these grips. It worked great. The purple is spot on to what is pictured. They match well with the purple Jagwire cables I put on her bike as well.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that they came with the end caps even though they don't come with the rings. The rings also come with caps so you will have an extra set if you buy both. This is a good thing as they tend to get marred or can fall off.

She only has 2 rides on them so I can't comment on durability but I imagine they will last many years. My Rogues are on their 3rd season and look good.

I am a week-end warrior. I tried ruffians before and stopped for whatever reason. I bought them back from good old memories.

I liked them at the start of the day and hated them at the end. They are super sweet and grippy. But with large hands the fatigue at the end of the day is out of this world.

A must get for small and medium hands

Comments about ODI Ruffian Lock On Replacement Grips:

I have been using ODI Ruffians for a couple of years and I love them. I have also put them on two of my kids bikes. Very comportable but also durable. I always wear gloves, but if you ride with bare hands you may prefer the version with the softer rubber compound. After a couple of years I have worn out the rubber grips, so this specific version allows me to replace those grips without having to pay for another set of metal collars (which didn't need replacing).

Great that ODI offers just replacing the grips so you don't have to buy the entire grip.

Petercz needs to learn to read. It clearly says ODI Ruffian Lock On Replacement Grips (Lock Jaw clamps sold separately). Also if you want to buy the complete grip it only costs $20.

The grips do not come with the clamps to attach them to the handle bars. Those you have to buy separately and they cost more than the grips do! The grip itself feels rather cheap made out of really hard plastic. I have a set of different lock on grips on another bike and they are far better, and cost a fraction with everything included to mount them.

Comments about ODI Ruffian Lock On Replacement Grips:

Stuck these on my Race Face Atlas handle bars with the gold clamps, I must say I was skeptical about the grips not sliding around given that the set up is plastic and metal on metal. Once I got them on and tightened down all skepticism was aside! They feel a lot stickier than any average stock bike grip I've tried. Can't speak to durability since I haven't used them on the trail very long, but regardless of durability I'd still buy them every year to get the kind of grip it offers.

The weather/trail conditions haven't been good enough to ride yet this year but based on my initial impressions, these grips will work wonderfully. Compared to grips I have had in the past, these feel far more durable.
