Building on nearly a century of evolution as a company, Orbea continually pushes the limits of elite cycling performance. Orbea is proudly located in Basque country and puts their exceptional cycling machines to the test on the twists and climbs of the Pyrenees mountains - a crucial stage of the Tour De France and Vuelta a Espana. Before release, each Orbea bike endures enough blood, grit, and suffering to sympathize with the greatest racers of all. From the Pro Tour to the World Cup, Orbea's strong commitment to uncompromising quality and European precision places Orbea as an unwavering leader of the pack.
Not merely an adapted trail bike - the Orbea Rallon is a born and bred Enduro machine, built from the ground up with Enduro in mind. At the heart of the Orbea Rallon is the Advanced Dynamics development process - a simulation program that allows the engineers to meticulously study how the frame and suspension will perform depending on rider size and exerted forces. This virtual testing ground allows Orbea is finely tune their frame geometry and suspension platform before a prototype bike is ever made. The suspension platform on the Orbea Rallon provides a smooth ride and handles speed like no other. Blindly turn into a rock garden or rutted downhill section with confidence knowing that you’ll fly right over all the rough stuff.
The point of suspension on mountain bikes is to absorb the rough stuff and keep your wheels in contact with the ground. This not only relieves the rider of forces exerted by the trail, but also provides better traction and control through technical and bumpy terrain. A key factor to the suspension system’s performance is the amount of friction in the system. Ideally, there would be no friction, allowing free movement of the suspension. However ideal, real world application proves this near impossible to achieve. Therefore, in an effort to reduce friction and increase efficiency, Orbea uses Sealed Ball Bearings rather than bushings. This, along with the linear/progression leverage curve, allows the suspension system to provide excellent pedaling efficiency and small bump compliance. To further improve suspension performance, Orbea includes a bearing at the rear shock mount, which is partly what sets Orbea suspension system apart from the rest - allowing the suspension to move freely while keeping the bike stiff and without adding unnecessary weight.
The Orbea Rallon also benefits from many modern mountain bike standards, such as the tapered head tube and direct post mount rear brake. A tapered head tube creates a stronger and stiffer front end which ultimately provides better control and a more stable ride. Not only does the larger surface area of a tapered head tube create a stronger head junction of the frame, but a tapered fork is remarkably stiffer than a traditional non-tapered steer tube which creates a noticeable difference when getting into rough terrain. To reduce weight and offer better braking performance, Orbea chose to use a post-mount rear brake mount - providing a simpler setup process while requiring less maintenance. Not only do post-mount brake systems reduce brake chatter and any unwanted movement in the system, they also provide the best platform for Orbea’s C9-12 system. Orbea’s C9-12 system separates the suspension from braking forces, which reduces the amount of squat experienced when braking. This allows the suspension to remain active through braking, which results in better traction and more control for when you need it.
To complement such a trail worthy machine, the Orbea Rallon boasts some top-notch suspension pieces and a rock-solid built kit. The fork on the Orbea Rallon is the Fox 34, with 160mm of suspension travel. The 34mm fork sanctions and 15mm thru-axle improve the stiffness of the front end providing the best handling possible. The Fox Float DPS rear shock has a three position custom tune for quick adjustments while on the trail. The Orbea Rallon X30 features Shimano’s SLX group, a mindful set of components focused on performance and economics. Shimano SLX offers smooth, reliable, quick, and quiet shifting, every time. Shimano SLX shifters are linked to a Shimano SLX front and rear derailleur for the ultimate gear shifting experience. Shimano M506 hydraulic disc brakes bring you from warp speed down to a halting stop. The bombproof set of Mach1 Klixx 23c tubeless ready wheels will keep you rolling smooth for many miles to come. Orbea rounds out the rest of the build by taking care of the handlebars and seatpost providing a solid cockpit to this race-ready build.
