Osprey Raptor 10 Hydration Pack 2015

Osprey is a brand that has been producing extremely high quality packs for 35+ years. Their constant dedication to superior quality, design and craftsmanship backed up by a solid warranty has gained Osprey countless loyal customers and an exemplary reputation for producing gear that truly lasts a lifetime.

The Osprey Raptor 10 Hydration pack is a men’s 1 ½ hour to 3 hour cycling and multi sport hydration pack. The Raptor 10 is the mid size in the Raptor series. The Raptor 10 boasts a huge 100oz (3 liter) reservoir, which is great for long day rides and hikes. The pack has over 600+ cubic inches of storage space. That much space is great for packing first aid, snacks, and energy GUs.

Some great features that the Raptor 10 has built into the pack are features like a blinker light attachment and dual side compression straps. These straps are useful because they help to keep all size loads secure and stable. An ErgoPull™ Hip belt helps to distribute and transfer load effectively and securely. A built in helmet loop has been conveniently added to attach helmets.

Perfect for my needs
I've been searching for the past weeks for a backpack that would meet my needs and went through a lot of bags, then Syncro, Viper, Zealot, and Camelbak Asset/Agent, and Deuter bags. This one really hit the spot in terms of features without much more baginess.

I chose this one over the Raptor 14 because the utilization of space met my needs better.

1. 1 good compartment, with separators for my shock pump, tire pump, and spare tube. Then space to shove other stuff in there.
2. Hydration slot has a quick refill zipper and easily pull it out to refill using the handle on the hydration pack.
3. Magnetic clip on Osprey's hydration is awesome. I love how it attaches and isn't bobbing around while I ride.
4. The extra slot for the non scratch items has an additional slot inside that separates keys. When I go riding, the keys/wallet/cellphone usually go into 1 slot, I can easily throw it in there now without worrying about scratching.
5. It has a removable tool pouch on the bottom. I put my multi tool, tire levers, spair chain links, and a first aid kit into this pouch. It's great!
6. Waist strap has wider hip area for better stability and has 2 zippered areas to stick in your nutrition bars.
7. 3L hydration reservoir vs 2L for bags around this size. This is great since I tend to do long mountain bike rides.

Compared to the Raptor 14, which has more space, also have to deal with more compression straps on the top. The scratch free storage doesn't have a place for keys, so you need to store your keys yet in another compartment which makes it kind of useless.

The only dislike I could see is not having the side mesh elastic pockets that a lot of bags have. I usually only put my granola bars/snacks there so it doesn't affect me since now I can stick it onto the smaller waste strap pockets. There is another elastic area on the back that could be used to shove additional stuff which could work too.

I wasn't sure if I was supposed to get 6, 10 or 14, I decided to go for size 10, it has enough room to fit cellphone charger, your basic tools, nothing too much, the bladder can take as much as 3.5Litres.

Built tough, and I would say it's better than camelback mule. If you think you would like to throw in a small bicycle pump in I think it might fit, look at some reviews on you tube, and see if it meets your sizing, if not go for 14.

Quality is amazing, crashed few times, no rips, etc. Than again depends on what you fall, and how you fall, everything rips eventually.

Excellent
Very good product for Mountin Biking. Specifically I´m an Enduro Rider. The Raptor 10 L is a perfect size pack for 4 hours ride. Its very comfortable, highly ventilated at the back and feels very durable. It has a plug to hang the helmet, however it is not designed to hold a full face helmet.
