Osprey packs have been on the backs of adventurers for over 35 years and the quality and their design shine in their 2013 Osprey Zealot 16 pack. The Osprey Zealot 16 hydration pack was specifically designed for mountain bikers looking for an Osprey pack to use on their all day rides. As you are shopping for your next hydration pack, the Osprey Zealot 16 should be high on the list if you need a hydration pack to carry tools, water and body armor in a comfortable package. The narrow profile allows maximum range of motion while climbing or bombing down hills and the hydration reservoir keeps your thirst at bay. Although narrow, there is plenty of storage space inside the 10 liter cargo space. The Osprey hydration pack has a LidLock™ helmet clip for your cross country style helmet or if you prefer to use a full-face helmet, that can be strapped to the Osprey Zealot 16 too. Body armor has convenient storage location on the over sized mesh side pockets or on the front padded compression pocket. There is a removable roll- out tool pouch for keeping things organized on the trail and a goggle/sunglass pocket.
Mountain bikers, hikers, or any other adventurer can hold up to three liters of fluid in the reservoir of the Osprey Zealot 16 hydration pack. Osprey designed the hydration reservoir with a welded-in back panel for stable water transportation. For filling the reservoir, Osprey uses a large ¾ turn opening on the low profile reservoir. The high flow valve on the 1/4" hose keeps the fluid flowing steadily. For convenience, the bite valve features a magnetic clip that attaches to the sternum strap of the hydration pack.
Great design and great fit are key to the folks at Osprey Packs. Osprey offers the Zealot 16 hydration pack in two sizes to ensure a great fit for mountain bikers of all sizes. Like all Osprey packs, the Zealot 16 can be further adjusted with the shoulder straps, waist pack and sternum strap. Osprey believes that mountain bikers will perform better when their packs fit.
Like all Osprey packs for the past 35 plus years, the Osprey Zealot 16 has been carefully designed by company founder Mike Pfotenhauer. Osprey packs offer great fit and functionality in a great looking backpack for all mountain bikers.Sizing

Comments about Osprey Zealot 16 Hydration Pack 2013:
This is a very well made, durable and well thought out pack.
I first discovered it when searching for Nalgene reservoirs on their own, since I was extremely happy with this brand of reservoir in my old Dakine Nomad pack (which was stolen). I've used 3 different brands of reservoir before Nalgene and none are as good in terms of water taste, or how long water can remain in pack before going funky. So it turned out Osprey packs use Nalgene reservoirs, so I dug deeper.
Initially I was after a mesh style back that held the pack away from your back (like some Deuter, Berghaus & Vaude models - which don't come with reservoirs hence why I was looking for these alone). But at the same time I wanted something rugged and MTB oriented. Osprey do have some 'away from back' style packs, but they're not as MTB oriented as the Zealot.
Then I discovered that the Zealot does indeed have a mesh back, but slightly different in that it's suspended from your back by a ridged padding piece sitting immediately behind the mesh, which is designed to contour to your back's curve. Combined with the design of the reservoir this means the back doesn't bulge out of the pack when it's full of water. So, essentially, all that's touching your back are the tips of a bunch of ridges.
After 4 long rides including a 4hr day this weekend gone, I have ended up with a much drier back than my previous pack. Dry enough to not have to change before sitting in my car anyway.
The rest of the pros are pretty much the same as most reviews will tell you. The roll-out tool pouch is awesome. The flat design that doesn't extend too far away from your back is great for no throwing off your centre of gravity. It's tough as nails (though I haven't landed on it yet, but by all accounts it's able to handle this, and it's backed up by a lifetime warranty). It sits nicely on your back and doesn't sit off-centre. And it looks great.
Overall - very happy so far.
