I mount these on my mountain bike when I want it to scream. I used them and an aerobar to ride my mountain bike in a triathlon and kept up with some folks on road bikes. They are not meant for off road stuff but they are very fast on the street.

I purchased these to use my mountain bike for dual duty- I don't have room for two bikes but wanted to commute on a path. I have not had a flat nor any other issue with them. They are actually a really decent quality tire with very little rolling resistance. If you are trying a pair on your mountain bike, be aware that they are very narrow and short (road tires!). The bike will sit lower and you should take some measurements first if you happen to have long cranks!

I have tried several commuter tires and these have been the best so far - long lasting and able to withstand the Seattle winter commute, which involves grit, grime, glass, debris, etc.
I do find them a little stiff to get onto my wheel, but that could be the type of wheel I am using.

Good 26" Commuter, good traction, and handling, great to be able to run high pressure, carry spare tubes. Also a cool retro look they are really sharp with the all black wheel set I put them on!
