Chainring replacement for Next SL crankset

      By Jim

Comments about Park Tool BBT-22 Bottom Bracket Tool:

I didn't end up using this tool (though it's a great tool) because I never got the crank off. Leave the 16mm hex cap on and loosen the driveside 8mm hex bolt. The 8mm bolt actually pushes the crank arm off the spindle then you can put this BBT-22 in a vice and set your crankarm/chainring on it to remove the chainring. Maybe next time I will try it myself! I never found a good video showing this so I had a mechanic do it!

Excellent quality, fits what it's supposed to, and works like a Park tool should. Don't try to spin a splined bottom bracket out with a screwdriver and hammer, you'll just muck it up. Buy the tool and do it right.

Comments about Park Tool BBT-22 Bottom Bracket Tool:

I used this to replace the atrocious bottom bracket that came on my bike with a sealed Shimano BB. The tool worked great and did what it was supposed to do. It seems very well-made and very strong. I had to WRENCH on it HARD to remove my old BB and the tool didn't flinch. I also really like that you can use a crescent wrench or socket wrench on it.

It seems a little pricey for a fancy socket, but it should last me my lifetime.
